  • Jolisa,

A collective noun of pedants. I think we can do better, actually.

    Hoist by your own pendant

(My Friday afternoon tea break: mining Kiwiblog and cracking terrible puns.)

Yup, found out last week courtesy of Hamlet... a fine moment in vocab expansion.

  • BenWilson,

No, it was always going to happen. Godwin's 4th corollary: Any thread that carries on for long enough will become pendulous.

Do we get to tar and feather anyone?
    Not literally of course.

Well not till law and order has completely broken down.
    I can help with that!

I generally have terrible taste in music, and this clip isn't the best quality either, but the tune's been stuck in my head for a good couple of weeks since hearing it on the radio one night...

  • Jackie Clark,

Sam, no-one has terrible taste in music. We all just have our own taste and no-one can tell us what we can and can't like. I say this as someone who, if I could, would be married to Dave Dobbyn, Elton John and Foreigner simultaneously. In order to illustrate my own taste in music, might I present you with one of my very favourite songs. Ever.

  • Danielle,

I say that Shocking Blue's original has better clothes. Better hair. And a better arrangement.

Also, dig the quick-cutting. So veddy veddy 60s.

  • Jackie Clark,

that is a very groovy version, Danielle - it's on the ipod at my gym. But, and I know you won't take it personally, whenever it comes on, I get all excited, and then I realise that it's not Bananarama.

  • dyan campbell,

I got the same feeling during my brief time in Canada - Toronto and Victoria. You almost wanted to go ask where they hid the indigenous people away.

What do you think we look like?

You wouldn't recognise a First Nations person. I'm as much Cree as Tiger Woods is black, and I am almost invariably seen as white by NZers.

My husband also looks white, until you see a portrait of his great-grandfather, who looks exactly like a 90 year old tattooed version of Paul.

Maybe they were all at a casting call for First Nations actors at the Twilight sequel, New Moon.
