Does that giant bauble look bomb-like, or is it just me?

[or as Seinfeld suggested, "bowling-ball candle" :-) ]

I have that photo from several angles (it was one time I went in the water in 7 days on Kiribati, I wanted to remember it), but the stump is my favourite one.

This is more of a representation of what Kiribati beaches look like.

Not just you. It looks alarmingly bomb-like.

Wow, that picture's influence has been massive. Among other things, the inspiration for Graham Nash, himself no mean player in the advancement of the photographic arts, to write Teach Your Children.

I hope not. I hipstamatic'd earlier. Great shot.

    Aw, thanks.

One of the things I'm really enjoying about Capture conversations is that it takes me out of my comfort zone. I know I have the chops for any kind of text debate -- I've been arguing on the internet for 18 years -- but every time I hit "post" on a picture I fret briefly that I'm making a dick of myself in the company of proper photographers.

Have you been reading my emails? Seriously, I said this to someone about myself earlier today.

'Proper photographers' is such a problematic term for me. It's certainly not a label I'm comfortable with. What I'm enjoying about this mix of imagery and intertextuality is that it seems pretty utilitarian to date. I'm hoping we maintain that feeling.

    Hopefully everyone's Ok with that.

I had to wonder if Banks realized that the primary angle of this billboard meant he appeared to be advertising that what he brought to parliament was a great big cheesy chicken burger.
