While not contributing, I am really enjoying the Capture series- thank you everybody.

But you are contributing. Both in words, perspective, and apparently baby cheesus.

What, like the other half spotted these two up to no good yesterday. Good eyesight, followed by good lens. :)
Somehow the lil' bits of string attached to them, don't fill me with confidence. They obviously beg to differ.

Nabbed by Ms Goodie a few weeks back, Christchurch City Council building. Spare Botox Bob clones?

  • Hebe,

Panoramas of the usedtobe CBD that I found mind-bending this morning. A great project.

The Manchester-High St one is difficult to take in -- I've spent so much time around there.

Christchurch is shaping up to be an ugly city going by the vileness of the remaining buildings.

That’s a lovely shot. So bridal!! And the light rippling through the leaves, mmm. This could equally go in the night-photography thread. :-)

Oh yes but i feel it is a very tailored forum with technical information and to tell you the truth i could not remember what my settings were if i tried. All i know they were taken with my Pentax SFX years ago. Oh and one tripod.

Thanks Hebe. Went out today and looked round what is standing. I find the soldiers on corners of perfectly quiet places such an intrusion in our lives. All i wanted to go a few meters further to get a shot of the rotunda and hey they just about kill you if you tried. Thanks Bob Parker, moron of the year.

Nice try Gudrun. The rotunda looks munted from that shot; is it on a lean or is that the angle of the picture? To be fair to Bob P, the cordon is Cera's responsibility I think.

I agree it is damaged but not beyond saving it. Once you take the top off, it is a matter of columns and a circular concrete floor. With today's technology and public money raised to save Christchurch's heritage after the quake, I feel it is without question that Parker and Brownlee could save it . Were they not able to whip up a stadium in 100 days using public money for their sports heroes?
I am not proposing to place it in this very spot but there has to be a space somewhere in Christchurch where they could apply modern earthquake safety ingenuity and reconstruct it. Such an attractive little monument to early Canterbury. Amen.

And very easily saved as you suggest.

Hating on CERA & the CCC for their pathetic lack of insight into what is important and their bullheaded rush to demolition-
