After dropping off the boys at Armageddon, I had an excellent ride into town and arrived at a position on Queen Street just in time to see some real riders in the ITU triathlon grand final. It’s great how close you can get to the competitors in this event.

Then I came back via the St Mary's Bay path and met this nice lady with her wee dogs, who were very friendly.

Lovely Norwestery clouds tonight. Cold though, my hands went numb. :-)

    Wonderful.

Ours weren't quite that dramatic, although the sky-face was a bit scary.

Today I went to Te Aroha – a beautiful wee town located an easy 90 minute drive from Auckland. It’s famous largely for it’s reputation as a spa town of old, and visitors still flock there for the Hot Springs. Three of us tweeps set off today to visit another tweep, and a really wonderful day was had by all. They day was gorgeous, which helped; the company was stellar; and the setting was just perfect. I recommend it just because it is one of those places that many have never heard of, and because it has a wonderful antique shop, which has a great collection of Crown Lynn (they were so excited I was there, they got me to sign their Val Monks Crown Lynn book, Yes, they really did. I was somewhat flabbergasted.) Anyway, judge for yourselves. Te Aroha, I’ll be back.

Great clouds from your camera (and your place?) I missed the sunset -- busy swearing at the collapsing calzone.

I need to go there. We should do another trip one day, with some more tweeps. You could take tours. No, seriously. ;-)

Te Aroha looks a fine place. I need to go to Te Awamutu sometime; is it near there?

Tried to get some more. Needed to get the ZOOMG lens out.

Nite all, thanks for kicking this off so nicely.

Nowhere near, Hebe. Te Awamutu is west of Hamilton. Te Aroha is east.

    ...collapsing calzone

which part of chch is that?
    ;- )

Could be a nice twist for the harbour region's marketing
    conflating caldera and zones
    while smelling Madeira and scones
    a tiny pizza paradise...
