  • Chris Waugh, in reply to Sofie Bribiesca,

Way long delayed by first an incident involving a very drunk mother in law (one of those 'amusing to look back on' things) and then work.... I sometimes forget such lushness and sheer force of life exists in other, less arid parts of the world. It hits me every time I go to Hong Kong or other southerly regions of China, it quite pleasantly knocked me for six last time I was in New Zealand. Beautiful photos.

Thanks Chris W and I concur, we are lucky here.
I pretty much am growing everything I photograph in the plant department. There is a couple of plants I have not grown yet but want to, Gloriosa Rothschild Diana being one, but we are getting more rain this year and the front of our place is indicative of that. It needs one helluva going over but still, one of my favourite palms, Karyota (of which there are now 4) is a pleasure....

Plus the other half asked for a Port Wine Magnolia, and after a couple of years it has the occasional buds. so I guess it thinks it's spring today :)

    Gloriosa Rothschild Diana

That should throw up some interesting
    Google search hits!
I read that the Gloriosa rothschildiana likes it 'moist but not soggy' and I suspect you'll not have much in the way of frosts up there... (impending mini-ice age notwithstanding!).

Whoops one word, should check huh? While I'm at it ,the photos of plants from others places are not of my making. I would be in the front garden today doing some work if not for the pulled muscles in my neck/shoulder/arm. Hell even typing is no walk in the park.
Well Frangi on the deck seems happy at least

And as we get older we'll think it's in focus and we just forgot our glasses. ;)
Rule of thumb for me is ,if it doesn't hurt to look at, it's great. Lovely baby bee, Jackson. His lil' stripey jumper.

Are those ants in there amongst them?
Swan plants seem to be favourite sites for ant mutualism, a sort of Fonterra of the insect world.

    Yes there were ants.
