Daylight birds will mob owls (both koukou & German) – but not always at all. Neither owl is large or conspicuously 'eared'. I had a nesting blackbird and a koukou (ruru outside?

That's a sheep/cattle dog trick I believe; they are herding. Our old dog was insanely hard to walk on the beach with because he would herd us all until he was tripping up someone; tighter and tighter circles.

Yesterday it rained in Waipara, and I did something I've been meaning to do for some time – hooked up my old Nikon slide scanner, upgraded VueScan, and played with a few images from the box of slides that has remained more or less untouched for a couple of decades.?

Thanks. Made me realise I need to find that old light box and the loupe that used to be a permanent fixture on my desktop, because sorting through hundreds of slides with the naked eye and a window is not easy... At least with print film you can look at?

So the weather came right today and we went over the new motorway bridge at Jacob's Ladder. It's a nice piece of civic architecture, encompassed by a big pohutukawa at one end and opening out onto views of the marina at?

Whitehall district in the hills to the east of Cambridge has had a school since 1885. Now, in December 2012 the School my Dad, my uncle and two aunts (1920s/30s), my brother, sister and I attended (1950s/60s) has closed. Very sad.
