    White flower?

I'd say it was more pink. ;-)

    In fact, often purple.

Tibouchina Elsa, my resident Twitter botanist informed me, with a little help from Google images. ;-)

    ETA: Link changed. Found better.

Our pleasure. :) You must live in a wonderful spot Jos. And. your photography prowess is a delight. I'm feeling more inadequate now, almost clumsy at best, ;)

I did actually add a link yesterday to the bottom of the original post to the poem in question

So you did! My bad - I saw the original post from work and didn't re-view it before posting.

And going back to page 1 now, I think that's your white flower there in glorious purple. I always knew it as Lasiandra, we had one in our garden when I was growing up. Must get my own one of these days!

Jos, that posing tui is just superb. And more nostalgia for the childhood garden, we had a bottle brush too. Thank you for sharing :)

Wellington's a bit gloomy today so here's one from a sunny spring day in 2010.

  • Jos,

I have a friend with lenses I can borrow, the birds are always around, patience is the key. Whakatane does have it's own micro climate it seems, we came here on holiday 35 odd years ago and got stuck.

Ahh, patience, it was big in the 60's . When I'm up North, I have time to sit for hours to get maybe 4 good shots. Well, good enough for me. They are well enjoyable.

How'd you get the flowers to glow from the inside? Great play of light, great photo.

Just lucky that the sun was shining brightly in exactly the right direction at the time! I'm quite a patient person generally but for some reason not when I'm taking photos. About the only technique I can ever manage is turning on the macro function :)
