  • Sophie G,

Thanks Jackson - ties in quite nicely with the Talking Plants article on This Way Up this afternoon - "Plants respond to light and chemicals, and can even make sounds. But are they able to communicate? Dr Monica Gagliano of the University of Western Australia is investigating bioacoustics in plants."

You can find the audio here

The bird shot that wasn't quite flower like enough. But it seemed pretty springy.

    Cheers Sophie.

    …without breaking anything.

Ahhh, how very beautiful, Jack and Sophie, thank you!

Jackson is the orchid yours? I have one very similar that’s only just starting to open.

No idea what this is. On a tree.

Unfortunately not. It's in the Wintergarden, which gives it a head start I guess.

Lasiandra, aka Tibouchina, a bit confusing. Very hard to get my camera to capture the colour….

Not on the garden, I hope! You might have damaged the plants. ;-)

This is from one of those rare days when our clouds actually had form and texture, not like today when we're back to formless, smothering grey. I'm also gettting eager for a change of season, just the opposite of yours. I'm also getting eager, I must admit, for a return to islands with a climate fit for human habitation.

Sorry 'bout the lack of flowers.

    Moving right along. More blossoms.

Now I'll leave it to others for a bit. Apparently I'm off to a BBQ. Hope it's an indoor one.

Too soon for blossom here, so I'll go with one I prepared earlier. Late September. Japanese flowering cherry.

Nice, kind of glowering, with bright rays for relief!

Not a photo taken today but springy all the same. My plants , being as exotic as they are ;), require hot weather to do their thang.

  • Geoff Lealand,

Noticed the first buds on the wisteria today. The garlic and asparagus have popped up and the tuis are back.
