Is that the name? Thank you; I noticed some reds in flower in our garden today and wondered what they were.

    the flowers. So beautiful.

Aren’t they, though. Plant porn! All those immodest angiosperms. ;-)

  • Sophie G,

    All so lovely!
Don't see a lot of lilacs up here, sadly.
Love the lachanalias, I was given some years ago and I'm always pleasantly surprised when they pop up again each year.

More flowers, these were planted at the entrance to the courtyard of Laogu’s* country house.

And another lotus, in the Guishui River, Yanqing county town.

*a kind of aunt. Chinese family words are very specific.

Drove to Queenstown over the weekend and caught this sheep in mid-delivery. Thing was so calm throughout the whole process it was eating, and then when we parked up to watch looked up at us in annoyance and then trotted off. Trotted! With, as I said incredibly inaccurately, a lamb coming out its bum!

Taken with my cell phone through a dirty window over my partner going squee!

  • Chris Waugh,

Nora and Jackson, you may have captured birds in slightly awkward poses, but at least you capture them, or parts of them. This summer I became aware of a 黄鼠狼/huángshǔláng/yellow or siberian weasel living, or at least, visiting the garden just outside our building. Nearly got a photo of it today - it popped out of the bushes and looked around, saw me, we stared at each other, but before I could get my phone out to get a photo, it'd vanished. I chased, but it's just too fast. I'm just glad I got a clear look at it today, so I know what it is, but it'd be nice to have a photo so that my neighbours don't think I'm mad.

Mustelids are very speedy and very stealthy, as so much NZ wildlife has found!
