  • Sophie G, in reply to Lilith __,

Sadly, I have yet to see a picture of this Anorak Man

The two J's would both have to say yes before I could splash that around : )

You could always send me an email. I am the soul of discretion. :-)
What I'm picturing is something like this.

That's pretty wild! I'll leave Jackson to comment on his own Anorak.... : )

  • Pete,

    Damn fine pics.

As to the energy recoverable from the sound waves being reflected up, you'd do better to harness the much greater energy being expended by the pressure of the vehicles going over the surface and some engineers in the UK are doing that with pedestrian power already.

If it’s any comfort, I have a fluffy coat I wear in the winter that makes me look like the Abominable Snowperson.

Now I begin to understand the
    language of the street...
So this is what they mean
    by "being in the Hood",
    ...right?

I'm just auditioning for my South Park appearance.

I have a suspicion it won't end well.

OK to swerve back in the direction of the topic, I have some funny foliage. These were both taken on the same day and not far apart. One is moss growing on the fellfield near Lake Alta in the Remarkables, the other is the Shotover River where it meets the Kawerau.

    Thanks goodness.

Love the two perspectives. They go well together.

Can't separate the micro and the macro patterns - reminds me of the fabulous Romanesco Brocolli which not only looks great but tastes delicious too.

We ventured out in the cold (by Auckland standards - sheesh) last night. Hood up.

    1) The ‘kick the tripod’ shot.
    2) The ‘that looked good’ 2nd shot.

Going back to this, I was sure I’d read something about that being trialed somewhere. And here it is.

    Vehicle-powered generators hit the road.

Using the vehicles breaking inertia to capture the energy is a brilliant idea. More than just the vertical motion.

    This isn't a night-time shot, but it was hand-held at 1/2 sec.

So, yesterday I went to see the Michael Parekowhai bulls. Today's the last chance to see them here in Chch, so if you haven't already, rush down to the corner of Madras and Tuam. And the carved Steinway is upstairs across the road. It's being played all the time the exhibit is open by a rota of pianists, and the combination of sight and sound is mind-blowingly wonderful.

I have shots of this piano that aren't blurry, but this one conveys how startling the exhibit is....

  • Lilith __,

Jackson, I have a bunch of non-blurry pics of pianos, bulls, people and other things around the central city from yesterday that I'd like to share. Should I resuscitate the Two Tales thread or where do you think I should put them?
