  • Geoff Lealand,

Nary a whiff of Photoshop or any other manipulation with these shots. Just a moment of raising the blinds to the deck to early morning sunshine and a brilliant moon hanging in the sky and a balloon floating northwards,

I never quite understand the visibility of the moon during daylight hours. Is the waxing moon or angle of the earth? Whatever it is, it is magical,

In spite great expectations by exited photographers around the Pier moonrise was not visible until 17 56 hrs. Had it risen on the horizon as expected it would have been quite a sight.

Peek of moon. Re-posts form Twitter earlier.

Thought about making a new post just for the Perigee moon, but glad you all revived this.

You well caught the shot that presented -- we were hoping to see the big moon too but there have only been glimpses with lots of filthy thick cold cloud.

  • Chris Waugh,

Magic with that moon. It's too early up my way, but also a bit too smogged up to give much hope... With a bit of luck we may get something more than a sickly red super-ish in a better life moon.

lots of filthy thick cold cloud.

which also obscured the weekend's eta Aquarid meteor shower - the dusty trail of Halley's Comet.
There's a great super moon picture on the SpaceWeather site - rising over a now Sarkozy-free Paris.
