Rather aptly we had met them after we had just interviewed a rather ingenious man over a Yeastie Boys' ale we purchased solely for the name.

¿ Because it reminds you of the Beastie Boys or the Yeastie Girlz [NSFW] ?

  • Emma Hart,

I asked what they meant by "largest", because I'm a fucking journalist and need the fucking facts.

And a credit to your profession, my man.

  • Joanna,

Jed's photos are awesome, but I feel that if you had wanted to be a real gonzo journalist, you would have either got into a fight or into the mud or both yourself. 7.5/10

Oh and also, can one stand up inside that humvee? Or does one have to dance on one's knees?

I learned by watching the television.

The former. We actually saw it form a long way off and both of us agreed that there was no way a beer with a pun for a name could be bad.

    Well I did try.

In that Humvee? Dance on your knees? No, not dance.

It sounds like you learned from watching Russell.

I think it's pretty much the opposite for wine. And also hairdressers.

But it is the sort of place in which you could "tuck your baguette into your jacket" though? Awesome. Kerry, please build us some more roads so we can get some more humvees up in here.

  • Danielle,

This was extry fun to read!

I have long since given up on assuming that anyone wearing the hat or shirt of an American team is, in fact, a fan of said team. It is vaguely annoying.

So true! 'Shear Magic': no. 'Curl Up and Dye': no. No no no.

I don't care about sport, but I do care about music, even when it's music I don't like, so I was really angry when a friend was wearing a KISS tshirt and couldn't even name two songs by them and was all "I just like the print". My head exploded. Then I got down off my high horse and tried to focus on ponies...

Oh, don't spoil my fun. I've always wanted to open a salon for the incipiently bald just so I could name it "Hair today, gone tomorrow".

(Although my favourite pun of this kind is in the wartime bugs bunny cartoon in which he falls off a plane and saves himself by taking a tonic against the falling hare.)

    Much appreciated

It is total fun to pretend to be a fan of the same team and say something like "Bro!!! Go [team name]! Hey don't you think they should trade [player name]?"

    Or The Sharing Shed.
Yes, spelt that way. It may be some kind of super-double-non-pun but somehow I think not.

  • Stuart Coats,

"Alright" he replied, "they could do better".

He could have been referring to the fact that the Braves appear to have shored up their pitching rotation for this season, which is the way they won all those division titles through the 80's and 90's.

Or he could have been intimadated by you and said the most bland, inoffensive thing he could.

Or he could just be a twat in a hat

I like this local chain's bad case of pun failure.

An American colleague insisted that he was an All Blacks fan, and wanted me to tape the entire season and send it to him. I couldn't comply (not having any recording device other than MySky), but I decided to test him by giving him a Silver Ferns T-Shirt. He wore it with pride for several days before departing for home.

  • Danielle,

I think the 'sharing' is meant to signify the unisexness of the chain? Or something? It works if you pronounce 'shearing' and 'sharing' the same, which is supposed to be happening amongst Teh Youth. (Did we have some sort of New Zealand accent/pronunciation thread here at some point? It rings a bell.)

Yes. This. Bands do not exist so you people can plaster them all over your chest because you 'like the print', by hokey! Show some dedication to something you *actually like*!

It can be hard to find a hat that isn't shit. I'm not surprised people wear things that they don't actually endorse.

  • Sam F,

The Yellow Pages offers up a goldmine of bad hair puns: Hairforce in Point Chevalier, Hairport in New Lynn, Mane Event in Te Atatu, (more disturbing, really, this one) Scissorhands in Henderson... that's just West Auckland, obviously.

In part I agree. What if your favourite band or sports team just has shit apparel?

I wouldn't be surprised if a large number of people liked the clothes first and then the team/band
