  • Paul Williams,

Thanks Hayden, I feel your aroha.

PAS Alert. White Ferns lose toss, India bat first.

White Ferns captain Tiffen talks up her pace bowlers before the game claiming the North Sydney oval suits them.... and it does. Strike bowlers Devine and Browne (points off for jokes involving gormless British actors) have taken critical wickets including Mithali Raj who came into this game with an average of 89.

The Ferns are on top at the moment, after 33 overs, the Indians are scoring at a little more than threes and have lost five wickets.

But... the Ferns still have to get Anjum Chopra out, she's on 49.

You can follow it the game yourself here

  • JackElder,

    Bang away.

Am I the only one slightly surprised that this line wasn't in a thread from one of Emma's posts?

If we must have some recurrent theme that metastases throughout PAS, I'd much rather it was Carry On sexual puns than copyright/wrong.

  • Paul Williams,

    I fear it's me that's to blame.

I know Hayden is a self-proclaimed cricket nOOb and that Emma's an officiando... but, I think, Emma counselled me to send my random obsessive comments about the comp here... I figure Jack's making a slightly different point anyhow...

It's things like these that make me pretty sure Russell is an evil genius, sitting out on the deck of his secret lair stroking Colin and laughing maniacally. Because when people said 'we need more women writing for Public Address' I'm pretty sure the reasoning wasn't 'because otherwise we'll run out of smut'.

  • Emma Hart,

Also India recovered quite nicely and are all out for 207 in the 50th. I say you add a run to the required run rate in Women's to get an idea of what the total is like, which makes that 'challenging but well gettable'. IMO.

I understand you to mean when comparing with men's cricket? Makes good sense (and I've not heard that before).

NZ last fell short of a more modest Indian total but I reckon they've got the goods today...

You'd have to say it's even poised right now. (If for no other reason I've always wanted to used that expression.)

  • giovanni tiso,

Misuse it, more like. Evenly poised. There's nothing in it really.

Uh oh, Indian in the deep spills catch and the game.

Hooray for unintended consequences? I hardly need prompting to descend into smut anyhow, and hope it doesn't impede people seriously engaging with a topic should I choose to muck around in the background (as robbery can perhaps attest). And it's nice to be unserious sometimes when the standard of debate here is really forbiddingly high.
