  • Joe Wylie,

    Otherwise we're just venting?

I assume that you're speaking for yourself there.

In the context of the F&R 'settlement' the focus on supposed welfare cheats appears as a cynical attempt to recast discussion of the case as a Politics of Envy issue.
As for what more can be said that hasn't been said, why not just come out and say nothing to see here, move along.

I'd suggest that a little more open and robust discussion is warranted if all that's emerged from your previous informed debate is a slim hope that the present government are now a 'little smarter' than those that allowed F&R to plunder largely unhindered.

  • Bryan Dods,

    Michael Fitzgerald,

You oscillate from thinking I made up a story to thinking that I am having an undignified outpouring of long-held envy. Very misjudged on both counts.
For what it is worth, I abhor the behaviour of many of my contemporaries. Those who played Monopoly during their childhood, and continued the game in adult life, do not arouse envy in me.
I do have a good memory for twerps I have met, though.
My choices in life will hopefully harm less people than those Bastards have done.

I am unsure why you tried to demean me with your personal level of attack. Have I insulted a hero?

  • InternationalObserver,

see this Joe? It's my bum -- bite me!

(and scroll back and look at my comments. I made various attempts to stay on topic, and my derision of FR is clear)

I'd suggest that a little more open and robust discussion is warranted

and what have you (or are prepared to) contributed to the discussion? If no-one wants to discuss the FR situation then its self-evident that there is nothing to say further on the subject, surely?

Is it cold in Christchurch? Are you wearing a cardigan?

  • Joe Wylie,

. . . scroll back and look at my comments. I made various attempts to stay on topic, and my derision of FR is clear . . .

    Like, for example:

    Kumbaya my Lord, kumbaya
    Kumbaya my Lord, kumbaya
    Kumbaya my Lord, kumbaya
    Oh Lord, kumbaya

A bit deep for me Inty, but should F&R or their apologists happen to stumble across it I'm sure they'll feel rightly skewered.

  • InternationalObserver,

Yeah, that was a bit deep.

So deep I'm having trouble remembering the point I was trying to make -- but I do remember it was very funny at the time. Just can't remember why for the moment (even tho' I'm still laughing now).

  • Michael Fitzgerald,

    Bryan
F & R are no heros of mine. They're expat yachties for a start.
F & R are a couple of smarmy gits and as I don't believe in reincarnation so I don't believe in Karma and if you believe in the tooth fairy you might believe in a justice system too.
As someone closer to 1/2 your age can I suggest you learn to let go.
I find grudges too much hard work myself and to hold them against the actions of children well....
    Cheers

    I/O
Glorious day in CHC today (snow must be on the way) Funny how cardies are coming back in fashion. They must have a zip though no buttons.

  • Michael Fitzgerald,

    Big Ups to Meridian Energy
At the Home Show in CHC today the dude selling PV (min $12K to start) said they pay $ for $ for PV energy onto the grid.
The reason I look to PV is most fires burn free stuff & CHC fires kill 124 people each winter = 1 a day.
So the resistance to clean energy is primarily cost. All those Heat Pump adds are wrong and most open fires are fuelled for FREE.
So however cheap this great option of a heatpump is it is still more expensive than Free.
It its good enough for a bloody game of rugby the Govt can save 124 live in CHC by stumping up with Solar Water Heaters & PV for CHC.

Mine has a zip and a hood. Gotta have a hoodie if you're going to wear a cardie in Auckland. I got it in France last year,
    so I know its fashionable.

Michael: stay OT please -- unless you're blaming FR for those deaths.

  • Bryan Dods,

    Michael,
Your advice sounds rather patronising following your insults.

<quote>As someone closer to 1/2 your age can I suggest you learn to let go.</ quote>

As someone closer to twice your age can I suggest that you learn that not everyone reads the same thing the same way.
I did not mention or hint at a grudge. You are twisting things to suit your own view. You have made a simple recollection sound like a vendetta.
I do not hold grudges against the actions of children. I do remember bullies and I tend to forgive, but not forget.

You obviously have a lot to say, with 116 posts in a about a month, so I'll shove off now and let you have full run of what appears to be your particular sandpit.

  • Russell Brown,

I thought that (page 2 post) was something you made up, a story, not the bitterness of an 8yr old held onto for 50years.

Sorry, I don't understand your reaction either. It was an interesting anecdote. Jeez ...

  • Michael Fitzgerald,

This sounds like a grudge to me:

"Nothing Michael Fay has done since has given me any cause to remove him from my Personal List Of Bastards."

I'm not saying I couldn't hold one - just far too much hard work.

    Live long & prosper

  • andrew llewellyn,

Having re-read the original post I am unable to see any mention of that topic.
I am looking forward to a future post on welfare accomodation fraud, so that those of you who know so much about housing might all be able to express some thoughts on Fay and Richwhite.

Cool, I'll dust off some of the old stories from when F & R were welfare defrauding, state house tenants.

  • InternationalObserver,

speaking of mega-rich Kiwi's ... is this item in this morning's NZ Herald Online just a harmless 'colour' story , or a some serious PR BS?

However, while all this is high-finance, celebrity-status money, Giltrap retains a sense of the common man and the art of being a Kiwi.

By inviting the Herald reporter/commoner onboard his superyacht for canapes and Krystal presumably.
