  • Craig Ranapia,

Though when it comes to unfortunate 'reboots', I'm cautiously optimistic about AMC taking another pass at The Prisoner -- though a good chunk of the original's charm is the suspicion nobody involved had any idea what the hell they were up to.

  • Jackie Clark,

How are you feeling, Russell? If I were you, I would read the latest Metro and feel considerably better. You've made it to the upper echelons of the Police Force without even trying.

Ah yes, that was quite droll, wasn't it? Nice to have one's work appreciated.

The week's been a washout workwise -- was supposed to be pulling together my Media7 clips show, but I just haven't been up to anything like a full day's work this week.

But I'll be fit enough to make lunch for the assembled PA bloggers -- half of whom haven't met the other half -- tomorrow. It wasn't looking that way a couple of days ago, and that was making me very glum.

  • Tomorrowpeople,

heh - Tomorrow People - greta show (I'd have to say that).

Was pretty out there BITD - especially the B&W early stuff.

Pretty forward thinking though for the time.
Has that very obvious dreary English shot-in-a-studio look but tehy did do outside shot - mainly involving fields and a transit van - lol.

You can get the series on DVD.

Kind of 2001 (HAL) meets the United Nations and Doctor Who....

And the theme tune is cool.

  • Craig Ranapia,

OK I just found a good McLuhan quote, that illustrates some of what I find interesting about blogs comment threads.

Well, here's my favourite McLuhan quote from a short-lived Canadian current affairs show called __This Hour Has Seven Days__:

"I'm resolutely opposed to all innovation, all change. But I'm determined to understand what's happening because I don't choose to sit and let the juggernaut roll over me. Many people seem to think that because you talk about something recent you're in favour of it. The exact opposite is true in my case."

Good to hear. Say hello from the plebs!

  • Sacha,

We march backwards into the future.

Sounds like McLuhan had some affinity with Te Ao Maori.

  • Russell C,

Back to the new Survivors for a moment - I finally watched it last night. Even when trying to factor out my personal belief that Julie Graham is the most annoying actor in Britain today, I still found it quite disappointing. The tone and pacing in particular seemed really bad, not to mention the weird invasive background music. They seemed to be in a terrible rush to introduce the core cast at the expense of building real tension or drama and as someone else mentioned - what was with the simultaneous dying? I'd have thought that a virus would knock out the populous at a somewhat more varied pace.

Lets hope it gets better. still, should revive interest in the original.

  • Sacha,

Damn I wish I could see the vids, expecially on a thread like this...

Woohoo - seem to be working again!
Shep, that Acceptable in the 80s Servalan mash was brilliant.

  • Tim Michie,

While we're conflating our nostalgia and future today, and this isn't the only thread they're mentioned, The Tomorrow People are rebooting.
