  • Russell Brown, in reply to Danielle,

This is belated. But I feel like I must, in the interests of honesty and not-just-saying-stuff-on-Twitter-ism, note that I pretty much totally enjoy the song and may call Russell a fogey about it next time I see him. :) “Hey-hey-hey.”

You’re going to call me a fogey for thinking that a 36 year-old rapey douchebag is a douchebag? Well then, madam, I guess I am guilty as charged.

  • Pete,

Is it too late to point out that that little white girl can't even twerk right?

Thicke is like the Forrest Gump of RnB - so dumb ya just don't wanna see him bump into too much furniture

Back to music, the Guardian has a sample of some new Pixies tracks and Japandroids are coming so hellz yeah to that

    Laboring under a misapprehension....

...a budgie (more like a small parrot) smuggler.

    Which reminds me....
    - no Australian Election thread?
Is anyone else worried that our good neighbour may soon be overtaken by an inveterate budgie smuggler!

  • Russell Brown,

And in US chart news, Katy Perry finally dethrones Robin Thicke.

But more importantly: Lorde's 'Royals' has now moved into the US Top 10.

I think this is the most wonderful response to the VMA twerking:

The rapey douchebaggery is sort of tangential to the point, though, Russell. I'm just talking about how I enjoy the sound of the song, not whether or not it's lyrically objectionable. (Of course it is. But so are a lot of things.)

Flicked on my radio while making breakfast this morning, and was delighted to hear 'Royals' has been chosen as this week's featured "Inevitable" track on Danish National Radio. She's jolly well gone global!

DR has a nice positive write-up about her on their website - it's in Danish but Google Translate makes a reasonable hash of translating it:

Better still, it'd be funny to see the reaction of Miley if she's made to listen to The Transformed Man.

But you still don't get to call me a "fogey" for not liking a creepy song by a 36 year-old!

BTW, I think the best nickname I've heard for Thicke is Douche Bublé. Genius.

  • Danielle,

No, no, I'm calling you a fogey because you said it was a bad take on "Got To Give It Up", and I think, lyrics and video aside, it's a fun, peppy-sounding take on it. You're an *instrumental* fogey. ;)

(And yeah, I know dude be old. I remember "When I Get You Alone". Didn't it have a video with him as a bike courier?)
