  • Robyn Gallagher,

Best thing about the Colin pic - the foot in the lower left-hand corner. It doesn't seem like it should be there, and yet it's the perfect place for a cat's foot.

Also - in the future when antibiotics stop working, doctors will prescribe internet lolz.

Glad you noticed. I had exactly the same reaction.

  • Helen Searancke,

I heart Colin. I have a cat here doing the same thing, though not quite so flamboyantly. It's the weather for it. Also heart the audio clip. Cheers.

  • Alastair Jamieson,

Not much into nationalism, but NZ's stance on nuclear weapons and indeed David Lange’s Oxford Union Speech are two of the rare things that give me a strong sense of national pride.
    Thanks for the mp3 Russell!

  • David Herkt,

In the first "All Watched Over By Machines of Loving Grace" clip, Ayn Rand's amphetamine-crazed pupils are AMAZING... But, yes. Russell, a badly flawed doco, which is a pity, because we won't get another on a similar topic for a while. And never in NZ, anyway, as a given.

  • Ross Mason,

Could the tetanus shot really be the reason for the sweats? Infections usually cause sweats rather than vaccinations..................sounds like you were really crook but.

So.....off I go to check out Hilary.......what makes me think I am in for a yelling-at-the-screen session.

  • Dave Waugh,

Yes I had backbenchers on in the background as I potted about the other night and Calverts even more barking than normal perfomance stopped me in my tracks!
I was gobsmaked at just how appalingly thick that statement was.
She is NZ's answer to Palin. :-(

Yes, but have Palin's eyes ever graced a brothel advertisement?

Where's Wallace buying his free range eggs from? $9?! That's stupid, shop around, bro.

Oh FFS... can we please call moral panic/slut-shaming bullshit on this? I know the HeraldFail and ComPost never quite got over the passage of the Prostitution Reform Act, but Calvert has a financial interest in a brothel. Her eyes were... oh, I don't really give a shit. Neither is illegal. Neither is even vaguely improper. Most pertinently, neither has the slightest relevance to my stunned disbelief every damn time she opens her mouth as an MP.

I love it when cats stretch and arrange their limbs in the "that's not right, but is awfully impressive" way they do.

Battery hens were happy and healthy?

Saw this for the first time today. It seems apposite. Also full of gender-confused drawings. And bad cow puns.

And the nurse only told me there might be a unpleasant reaction after the shot. Between a bigger dose of a different antibiotic and the jab, I was feeling pretty munted even before I went to bed that night.

Still, good to be coming right.

only time i've ever had that sort of sweats was after eating a delicious, delicious 5-week-aged black angus rump steak.

    350g of holy-fck-the-chef-poisoned-me.

you been into the good stuff beforehand?

  • Matthew Reid,

MoH advises lots of fluids. And cuddles. And paracetamol. Naturopaths reckon the MoH doesn't say enough about the ill-effects of immunisation.

Of course getting tetanus would be worse. I've seen it in babies and it's not nice.

Calvert’s statement – delivered as if it were known fact – was wrong in basically every way it could be wrong.

    - It’s battery hens that get the antibiotics – not only to prevent disease, but as a growth promoter.

    - NZ FREPA guidelines prohibit the use of antibiotics in free-range chicken.

    - And bird flu is a virus. Antibiotics would have no effect on it at all.

Calvert is like the perfect expression of the Actoid philosophy, where facts are the product of ideology, rather than evidence or observation.

Mind you, I was disappointed that Sue Kedgley didn’t seem to know any of this when she got a opportunity to respond.

Raw kina. I lost a kilo in the space of 12 hours. Not very nice at all.

Indeed, Alastair. Something else that makes a lump in my throat, looking back, is the memory of a frigate going to Mururoa. With an MP - minister?- on board. I know everything wasn't golden in those days but it felt good to be a New Zealander.

Oddly, that song came up on my ipod* today while I was driving home. Great stuff, and vastly preferable to Wham imho

Sorry love... just stirring there. FWIW I agree. Her eyes atop her brothel? Where's the story in that? I couldn't believe the 4th Form behaviour of some male reporters. Snigger snigger they went. Sigh. Boys. Really. The product of Enlightenment. We really can't escape our base feelings can we?
