  • Steve Barnes,

Yeah I get it, Labour is the new inexperienced party, how silly of me.

  • nzlemming,

    Reality is biting back.
The Prime Minister, the dinner and the $25,000 donation

The PM has always maintained that he met Donghua Liu at a National Party fundraiser but would never say where. Today, the Weekend Herald can reveal that the fundraiser was actually a private dinner at Mr Liu's $4.75 million home in Remuera, where a smiling Mr Key and Jami-Lee Ross, the MP for Botany, were photographed alongside Mr Liu and his young family.

  • Sacha,

Inexperience has nothing to do with it.

  • Craig Ranapia, in reply to Sacha,

Inexperience has nothing to do with it.

No, it doesn't. I've said it before, and really wish I didn't have to repeat it, but there's still way too much FPP arrogance in both Labour and National. Here's a reality check: We've had seven elections under MMP, and the "minor" parties aren't going away (no matter how much I wish some of them would).

At the very least, if Little (and Key) insist on shitting on their actual or potential coalition partners in public, they really need to get a grip on the idea that being into scat is a pretty uncommon kink so they shouldn't expect to be thanked for it.

  • Joe Wylie,

I bet John Key works out on one of these contraptions. Mike Hosking too. Somehow I doubt it would work for Andrew Little.

  • Rich of Observationz,

This was in the paper today:

...the average price New Zealanders paid for a hotel or motel room booked through its website jumped $7 to $146 last year.

The 5 per cent rise means prices rose at more than six times the rate of inflation, which stood at 0.8 per cent last year.

The average price paid when visitors from overseas were included in the mix rose 7 per cent to $163, the company said.

That suggests prices at more expensive hotels that are more likely to be frequented by foreign visitors rose the fastest.

So the hotel industry seems to be able to maintain occupancy and increase room rates. Why, in that case, do they need government pork in the form of convention centres and the like? (Which also increases costs for non-tourist businesses who need staff to travel, as well as individuals taking holidays).
