  • Megan Wegan, in reply to James Butler,

See I missed out on that, having given up early on the thread in question; but when Megan mentioned it I just assumed it would have been about manual dishwashing,

Ah, I linked to the wrong thread, but it was.

It looks like friendship in action, from where I’m sitting.

Which must be on that nice couch. :-)

  • Megan Wegan, in reply to Emma Hart,

(Megan and I MET on PA. This is how we know each other. The thriving state of our sidekick/bitch relationship is just a testament to this community.)

I sometimes forget that. I sent you a shy little email inviting you for a drink when you were next in Wellington. I even told you you could go shoeless.

    How times have changed.

  • 81stcolumn,

@Gio -Not saying that I am that good at either, but I am probably a better art historian than I am an artist. With that in mind when I look at mashup culture what concerns me is not really whether there is too little or too much, but how that culture will deal with the constraints placed upon it. Consequently my concern (which I have no means of legitimising) is that the current implementation of copyright is an unfair constraint on the creative process because it is unreasonably abstract from those who create. Unfortunately where I end up arguing with myself is it is not surprisingly over different versus better. Oh dear I may have stopped making sense altogether......

AFAIC there’s only one way to pack a dishwasher, and surely everyone knows it.

I'm sure there is, but what about a dish-drawer?

Incidentally, also just encountered the term 'leetspeak'. My schooling is going nicely today, thank you.

Everywhere. Really you don't want to get me started - again. (Clearly I was remembering the wrong conversation. Heh.)

Does everyone else pack the cutlery tine-side down, or is that just my paranoia?

    Well played, Sir.

Does everyone else pack the cutlery tine-side down, or is that just my paranoia?

Surely - otherwise won't you just cut yourself/make the important bits dirty when you unpack it?

I'm torn. My flatmate once failed to show the appropriate sympathy for my cut finger, pointing out that I had left the knives sticking up in the first place; but years of anecdata suggests that the best clean is obtained that way. I tend to err on the side of effectiveness over safety.

    And the first two are?

  • giovanni tiso, in reply to Megan Wegan,

They mainly concern the pre-wash rinse and where to put the glasses. It's going to be essentially a dishwasher-based religion.

It’s the only reasonable approach. Dishwasher safety experts agree.

(I am so glad I finally got to use that link in a discussion. I’ve been waiting for over a year!)

"Lapsed" is the term, I believe. Or "non-practising".

Everyone has a dishwasher, it's just one effect of your general depravity that yours has failed to become manifest in the physical world.

The real question is, does the dishwasher come into existence at conception, or at some undetermined time between leaving home and getting your first mortgage?
