  • Lew Stoddart, in reply to BenWilson,

It seems a universal law that, in such cases, advantage goes to the team in possession.

  • Hilary Stace,

The contents of a handbag would be more interesting than a pocket.

Ur, depends on the pocket, Hilary – or, in my case, 2 pockets in my trou, and 4 attachments to waistband thereof-would take a bit long to enumerate the contents thereof, and I’m not in a pissing contest anyway, but…they all make me feel equipped for a lot of possibilities and so, somenow/somewhen- safer?

Of course, there is a website dedicated to what people carry in their pockets.

That's kind of cool, but I'd be interested to know how many here have a switch blade as a standard pocket item. Knives abound.

  • bulbul,

As our legal currency, banknotes should not be defaced. Aiding, abetting, inciting Russell ?!

"The Reserve Bank Act 1989 says that “No person shall, without the prior consent of the Bank, wilfully deface, disfigure, or mutilate any bank note.” A person can be fined up to $1,000 if caught defacing a banknote"

At home, I always have 4 blades to hand* - a tiny Swiss Army manicure knife; a Leatherman X6 Juice multitool that has 2 blades in it (serrated and plain), and my ancient trusty Mercator locking knife.
When travelling, I leave the Mercator at home...

*Actually, I have many hundreds of blades ready to hand at home, because I collect knives and edged weapons.

Mind Reading? The Science of Imaging the Brain,

I’m sure it will be fascinating. I have a few images myself. It certainly helps one “get their head around it” to say the least.;)
I quite like this version that t’other half adapted.

  • Paul Campbell,

I spent the last three weeks in Bangalore on a biz trip, I'd say maybe 10% of the notes I received in change came with some added text - of course it's harder to write on plastic notes than on cloth/paper ones

Yes it is probably about safety. I don't usually have pockets and don't really miss them, but I wouldn't go too far from home without my bag full of 'just in case' things.

probably a gap in the market for these...
...in lieu of survival kits, we should carry
small (but perfectly formed) Justin Cases!

    having been caught out before,
I thought I'd better check on line
and there is this available through
    an aptly named company...

Papier mash-up…The Science of Imaging the Brain,

Isn't that a nice piece of work. T'other half made me a light box because we had soo many images. It now graces the hall and at 15 w it's an energy light. :)

  • Geoff Lealand,

In my pocket: a street map of Portland, some American dollars, a broken watch and a hotel door card.

Stayed up late last night to watch Bruce Springsteen on the Tonight with Jimmy Fallon show (plugging his new album Wrecking Ball). Tom Merillo was on lead guitar, which was a little strange,
