  • FletcherB,

The herald article about Mr Dotcom's donations...

Mr Banks says surely it's not against the rules for him or his people to advise potential donators how they can do so anonymously if they want to...

I'd have to agree that seems reasonable....

And if some anonymous donations arrived shortly thereafter, you might guess where they came from and still reasonably, legally, claim not to *know* where they came from...

But Phoning them and thanking them later... whoops... sort of proves it's not anonymous, huh?

Hmm, advising people how to help break the law. But provably knowing where the donations come from is enough to make him guilty. Watch for smears agains Dotcom's reliability as a witness next.

  • Kumara Republic,

Banksie came across in the Campbell Live interviews as trying to bung a cork into a bursting dam.

Surely, advising them how to stay within the law, no? :)

(yes, I'm playing devil's advocate- I don't like it either)

Watch for smears against Dotcom's reliability as a witness next.

Sounds like there were at least 3-4 witnesses on the Dotcom side. I'd imagine that if Kim is speaking out about this, then the others would probably be willing to testify.

It makes one laugh to think about why he's pushed Banks under the bus. You can bet that Banks instantly went from BFF to total cold-shoulder, the day the big bust went down, and that when the Sky City donation scandal surfaced on Wednesday, KD was thinking "well, fuck you too, Banksie".

Someone on Twitter was tweeting that Dotcom deserves citizenship for that alone.

Unfortunately most were Mr Dot's employees; though the CFO's cheque could be a little hard to wriggle out of. Would Mr Dot have a lot of CCTV around to protect his security?

Anyway arise Sir Kim? Or will Banksie under a bus muck up his residency status? He'd be a bugger to take on: loaded, litigious and mischievious (I don't mean that in a bad way Mr Dot), and a lot of time on his hands now he doesn't have to mow the mansion's lawn. The National strategists will have to factor that personality into whether to stop and help Banks or squash him with the HiLux.

I've seen that happen to people in politics. It's brutal, no matter how tough the person is.

Nothing illegal about giving a donation. Asking someone to alter the way they do it for your own benefit could be interesting given that 'anonymous' relies on not knowing. Discussing the process with the donator makes that hard to claim.

likely to be cosy meetings with Act's players and funders going on already.

  • DexterX,

It is hilarious that John Banks final Act in Public Office could be his removal from office, and though I don't expect him to go directly to jail, the final outcome may be his being sentenced to Community Service, which he may end up doing along side Sir Douglas Montrose Graham.

I just wonder if when JB and Sir Doug are doing community service - will the supervisors turn a blind eye while they both get stoned – literally – either would be good – in essence they are dopes.

The sorry pathetic series of recent events show the quality of elected representatives “laxative” - they are a bunch of self serving fucktards – that Key has created the Pokies for Convention Centre largely of his own volition illustrates to me that he doesn’t understand the basic job description of being Prime Minister – you know representing the best interested of the nation – coming to grips with the big issues.

The creep Peter Kwisatz Haderach Dune is deserving of scorn and his own special room in the Hell in which he believes - if solely based on the manner he has supported the proliferation of gambling and other social harms over his term in power.

Len Brown is saying that he wants to learn more on the form of casino deal and wants more info on harm minimisation mechanisms to be put in place.

The Mayor is more a maid in waiting – he does not possess – to my mind - a solid position on anything much - he waits for events to go over, under, past or above him – waiting to see the final form of the Pokie Convention deal may leave it too late to express an opposing view or position.

If as a working person you find yourself wondering why you work so damn hard and nothing seems to come of it - matters don’t improve despite continuous reforms and selling stuff - you only have to look at what is going down at Local and Central govt –

They are barking mad and largely self serving and add to that self defeating.

Kim Dot Com deserves to be a citizen as much as First Citizen.

  • Steve Barnes,

An investigation has been ordered after an aged-care worker took a dementia patient to SkyCity Casino - and lost her.

I can just imagine her sliding the poor woman across the Blackjack table, is this jonkey's answer to Aged care?.
As for johnbanks, he took a gamble and lost, you get that at the "High Rollers" table.

    Q+A: John Banks defends donations

John Banks: "nothing to hide" (except whether or not Kim Dotcom donated 50k to his campaign, which Banks refuses to answer 9 times).

  • Steve Barnes,

Come to think of it there must be cctv footage of johnbanks at Kim's crib. Oh, hang on...

When the IT expert arrived at the police station, the reports said, he apparently found the server completely disassembled, and authorities said they could not reassemble it or give him any footage.

    Q.
    1. Would there still be "footage" 14 months later?.
    2. Would that "footage" show johnbanks?.
    3. Would the Police help johnbanks?.
