  • Bart Janssen,

Two women somehow managed to talk to each other constantly, rapidly, loudly – and at the same time.

Via our gracious host, Drinkify. Pairing music with concoctions. Just save the Slayer until after work.

  • Joanna,

I'm actually a bit ticked off at Bic Runga right now. I forked over $72 for her acoustic tour ages ago and am looking forward to it, and then yesterday I found out she was playing THAT very night at Bodega for much cheaper, and without any fanfare. And by then it was too late to head along. Grr.

The funniest thing is they will be followed by these guys. Seems almost impossible.

I wonder if they were related to the two seat dancers next to us at Portishead last night. Head shaking and arm waving in restricted seating arrangements is a hazard to eyes.

Portishead were pretty damn excellent, if you like that sort of thing, which apparently I do.

Doesn't it though. It will be sublime if both become a complementary and seamless excess of quality.

  • Danielle,

Anyway, here's the video for 'Hello Hello'

    1. You know what would really help Bic in her particular 'hiking through New Zealand with a donkey on windswept country roads and beaches' situation here? A HAIR TIE. Jesus lady, break out a scrunchie if you have to.
    2. Not revealing what's in the suitcase - ARGH!
    3. She is such a wonderful pop songwriter that I find it difficult to say anything about the music but get all swoony. That shit is right in my wheelhouse.

    The funniest thing

In the epic battle for my favourite Verlaines song, that is up there. 'How long have you been living with him anyway?'

  • Robyn Gallagher,

Duran Duran! They have a new song and it's quite good, but more importantly, it comes with a brilliant video. Directed by Jonas Ackerlund, it stars five '90s supermodels who play the band, complete with complex interviews (and actually quite good acting) about the band's history. It looks brilliant, and even has a bit of lesbionic action, if you're into that.

I suspect you would have liked Indie Bic a LOT. Like I say, let’s hope it’s not the last of that format.

Meanwhile, pop kids, you get to hear exactly the same lineup playing Laneway as Kody’s new project, Opossum.

Segmentation. The acoustic tour is targeted at affluent middle-aged types from places like Thorndon and Oriental Bay, who wouldn't go to a gig in a downtown pub. The Bodega gig is for the rest of us.

I prefer earplugs. And yes, I'm definitely taking them to the KA tomorrow night.

De La Soulveit, cool mashup bizznizz http://dubdotdash.blogspot.com/2011/11/de-la-soulviet.html

and if you need some antidote to all the F Nun nostalgia (cos they weren't the only thing going on in indie music here in the 90s), try this, my old band Hallelujah Picassos retrospective reissue http://picassocore.blogspot.com/

  • Jackie Clark,

Oh good, another discussion about bands I have never got. Keep your drear. If you can't bop around frenetically to it, I'm not interested.

  • Andrew E,

Was at the Bic Runga gig at Bodega last night. Great stuff, and lovely to see her in an intimate venue like that, although

Two women somehow managed to talk to each other constantly, rapidly, loudly – and at the same time.

rings a bell, except this time it was one woman, to two men, all from NZ. Some people have no manners.

  • JacksonP,

This has been out a while, but it only just made it to my ears, via 95bFm as usual.
It's growing on me. Remixes galore out there for those who care.

    Et tu, Anthrax?

Oh well. Happy Nigel Tufnell day, everyone!
