This is seriously a great result. Seriously, how long before Cunliffe is no. 2 on Labour's list?

About the same time he becomes deputy leader of the labour party I'm guessing.

  • BenWilson,

Emma: I suppose taking someone up on that etchings line is one quick way to distinguish real from bullshit artists.

Yes, I know of at least one disappointed lady who took up a handsome young man on his bullshit and spent a dull half hour actually looking at some etchings.

Must be hard if you actually are an artist specializing in etchings, and not particularly good looking, to get anyone to look at them.

  • Russell Brown,

It's amazing how exiting these things are in the real. The tech dude and me got into a huge chin wag the even included this Internet wiring stuff being as much the guts of modern civilization as paper.

Nice. That's the second story I've heard of the humble technicians being pretty amped about the new kit they're putting in. It's so geeky ...

Getting amped about an empty cabinet? You think?

  • Yamis,

Totally unrelated but the sh*t is about to hit the fan. I need to vent so I can eat my dinner with a slightly lighter mind.

Peter Brown just described (unless there was some awful editing by Prime News) Asians as "horrible".

"They're horrible" he said. Before talking about them coming here and not integrating and making pockets of their culture here.

Totally unlike say NZers in london. And they can speak the same language and have a similar culture as the hosts yet still choose to hang out together.

    I'm fired up...

  • Mark Thomas,

    peter who?

  • Yamis,

    Politician.

OK, so he WAS misquoted. Thanks Prime News, I suspect it wasn't on purpose.

He was asked what do you think of the statistics showing they will number around 800,000 by 2026. To which he replied "they're horrible".

    He's still a muppet though.

    The defence rests.

  • Mark Thomas,

Oh, he's a NZ First politician, it's election year, and they're moaning about the great hordes of immigrants. Big surprise. It's not even news

  • Yamis,

The thing which adds to the "this really bugs me factor" is that he isn't even elected.

Not only was he let into this country by the good grace of the Tangata Whenua but he is let into parliament by the good grace of our electoral system which thankfully now will struggle to allow wacko beliefs to have a major effect on policy.

His views will serve to isolate people which is exactly what he accuses Asians of doing. He thinks that their way of life will lead to division, conflict etc.

Mate, that's what you are ALL ABOUT.

    sorry, thread hijacked.

    THE END

  • Rich of Observationz,

How wasn't Peter Brown elected? The 5.7% of people stupid enough to vote for NZF got them 7 seats (exactly in proportion to the vote).

  • Rich of Observationz,

Does anyone have any clue why I can't send attachments?

Unlikely to be anything to do with your ISP.

Basically, if you use a mail client like Outlook (or Pegasus, etc, etc) when you send an email with attachments, it "encodes" the attachments into a block of text (which is all Internet email handles) and sends it to the email server, which forwards it to the recipients.

If you use Gmail (hotmail, etc), everything like that is done inside Google's website.

The only way your ISP could affect this process would be if they have some sort of "security" feature that strips attachments out.

Do you get an error when you try and add an attachment, or do they just not appear at the far end?

  • Yamis,

True enough Rich, I just think he should have to go toe to toe, blow for blow, mate against mate, state against asian ... to really be elected. When its individuals standing people can look them in the face and decide yes or no. When they are on the list they are slightly anonymous. NZ First could have a strong spokesperson, and then 3 monkeys, 4 camels and a goat occupying spots 2-8 on the list and get the monkeys and 2 camels into parliament because nobody who voted for them checked, they just voted on rhetoric. One of the slight failings of MMP I reckon.

I tried using Gmail too, but same result. Both Gmail and Entourage give me an error message. Gmail's is more polite: "oops, due to a server problem your message could not be sent - please try again later". Of course the message can never be sent.

I'm wondering if it's a problem with my US Robotics ADSL box?

My apologies for threadjacking -- it's been a year so I really should invest some money in having someone come and look at it. Abusing Telecom and switching to Orcon only solved the problem for a month. Maybe its the exchange (Ponsonby/St Marys Bay) - when it rains the internet connection always goes down!

    Russell,

slightly off topic -- but not very far: what happened to the idea of running optical fibre through sewers? It was talked of quite a bit in Europe a while ago, and I remember seeing a photo of a Swiss robot designed to install the fibre.

Did the economics not stack up?

Oh, so now you bring this up.

It would've been a good add-on the to extensive digging done round our way over the past decade by Metrowater.

  • BenWilson,

International Observer - are you sure you don't have a virus tacking itself onto your attachments? Most services would block those. But a dodgy router could also cause troubles with big attachments. If you lose connection you can't pick up the transfer later with most mail servers.

Problem is, there's so many ways that mail can fail to get through it's really hard to answer your question without a lot of to-ing and fro-ing. How big are your attachments that are getting blocked?
