  • Danielle,

Danyl, it's my normal Twitter ID. It's also my email address - I've been "dimsie" online since the 90s. I named myself after a series of girls' boarding school stories I collect. So once again, it's Not About You. (Well, that particular tweet was, obviously. Heh. Every now and then when you do your "I'm the only one with common sense!" thing on PAS I say something along the lines of "shut up, Danyl" on Twitter because I don't want to be that blunt here. Our famed self-regulation and all that. Maybe I should just say it here instead. :) )

  • Danielle,

Oh Jackie, that doesn't worry me. My tweets aren't protected, so I'm fine with him being told that I'm occasionally bitching about him in another "room", so to speak. Our version of gossip, I suppose.

I just hate that sort of thing, intensely. When I bitch, I want it to be private. What's the fun of talking about someone, if they know????

I assume, but really who the fuck knows, named after my blog

I can very definitely assure you that it isn't. Your assuming that it is is something people can draw their own conclusions from.

    BETRAYAL

But not that, I really don't think. Danielle's tweets are public, or Danyl wouldn't be able to read them. It's not like passing on a confidence.

  • Danielle, in reply to Emma Hart,

I totally agree, not a "betrayal" at all. As I just said on, um, Twitter: "I think you should know what someone is saying about you!" is time-honoured-ly busybody, though! Charmingly retro, almost.

I don't have an open feed I guess, so if anyone did that to me, I'd spit tacks. I take my gossiping very seriously.

I guess I am easy to fuck with, if you set up a twitter feed which is - I assume, but really who the fuck knows, named after my blog - and post oblique messages about me on it, and if by 'fuck with' you mean bemuse me by how much of your emotional energy you spend on me even though I'm a random stranger on the internet.

Seriously, the idea that Dimsie derives from Dim Post is one of your funniest lines ever, Danyl. And I'm still unsure how a side comment on Twitter qualifies as worse than your calling out a PAS commenter and branding him an idiot on your blog instead of taking issue with him directly here. But perhaps it's just me.

FWIW Danielle’s been using the “dimsie” handle for a long time. I seriously doubt it’s a reference to dimpost.

..& as for trolling or what-have-you, I think an offhand comment on a twitter feed oughtn’t be taken too seriously. I’ve said far worse things about my clients on facebook.

Also I once wrote off a car belonging to a “Damian Christie”, but we can keep that quiet, can’t we.

Don't worry, everyone's done that. It's part of his charm

Wow! Great I dont have twitter! I find it difficult enough to keep up with the web sites I enjoy, let alone keep up with (the very germaine important but - we'll all admit-sooo temporary shit) wittery- best, all who use it. Me - not ever.

Maybe she's like the Highlander. You know how Sean Connery's character already had a Spanish name on his home planet? That sort of thing.

ETA: Or maybe she inceptioned Danyl. 'We planted a simple idea: you shall call your blog The Dim Post.'

Spanish? He was Egyptian in Highlander, right?

I'm on twitter and I honestly don't understand how people do it. Granted, I don't have a smart phone. I think it's basically like an ongoing punctuated conference call, 24/7.

He was a Spaniard by the name of Ramirez by the time whatshisface met him. But I should stress these are memories harking back a quarter of a century.

Hey, you're blowing my cover. It's now becoming all too clear that my constant, mind-numbing stream of 95% mommytweets (sorry, followers) is all camouflage for a Nefarious Highlander/Inception Plan to bend Danyl to my will.

  • Danyl Mclauchlan,

So once again, it’s Not About You.

Reading through the rest of your twitter feed it does seem to be about me, at least more so than it should be for someone who plays such a minor role in your life. But knock yourself out, I guess. Ditto for this thread, which Emma insists is totally not about me, but is an expanded version of a comment she made a few days ago which is . . . about me. It all seems pretty childish. (That's me 'flouncing off' by the way'.)

And before you had time to illustrate how your blog post indiscretion differed from Danielle's tweet indiscretion, or how exactly it did not constitute you expending too much emotional energy on Caleb d'Anvers. Such a shame!

  • Danielle,

Oh for goodness' sake, Danyl, what utter tosh. Before tonight's silliness kicked off I've probably mentioned you off my own bat about... four times in 4000 tweets, over however many years?

(I'm terrible at both maths and feed-searching, so if anyone would like to do the search, and then break down the statistics for Danyl, we can get to the bottom of how Terribly Significant he is once and for all.)
