  • kmont,

Guys, another thing you could do for the team is sort out the music at the stadium.

  • kmont,

Well, I am only playing if there is decent music. So clearly someone is going to have to sort it out.

  • merc,

So it begins, the demands, the hairstyles, the tatoo's, the tights (whoops, that was a rugby trend that didn't catch on thank goodness)...bags not be team shrink.

  • Heather Gaye,

Am I too late to join the team? I'm 183cm, 82kg and I already beat up other girls for fun.

  • Joanna,

Where is Jo? She must be being really staunch about not participating in rugger conversations.

Damn straight. But I'll happily sit on the sidelines drinking martinis and shaking my pom poms.

    And Heather, you're not 183cm! I'm 180cm!

  • Deborah,

Sheesh, I just went to a restaurant and discussed gay porn.

That sounds like more fun than housework.... Can I come too, next time?

  • kmont,

Welcome Heather, what position are you eying up. I also suggest tatoos and tights. Bring the drama.

    Sure. Bring merc.

And I wanna be the Centre. Because I so obviously AM.</irony>

Oh, which reminds me! Kudos to whoever it was who made the Spider Robinson reference back up the thread about four pages.

Well that's the pom poms taken care of. We still need to sort out the music and with the direction that this thread is taking (i.e. a tad Friday afternoonish) all I can think of is Peaches and maybe a bit of Coco Solid.
Mind you everything might get a bit out of control with that.

    That's the point though, right?

Music: Buffalo Daughter and Sissor Sisters??

Don't for the eyeliner - that became trendy for a micro second thanks to Maa Nonu.

  • kmont,

But seriously if pre-match there was a female MC battle and a whole lot of trash talking by both teams, how fun would that be?

  • merc,

I'm so going to be in Christchurch, D's parents live there. If you must have music, Peaches as in The Stranglers?
Kraftwerk, Autobhan, Joy Division. She's Lost Control, The Buzzcocks, Autonomy, Iggy, The Endless Sea. The Bats. LBGP, Cactus Cat...

  • kmont,

Peaches as in she of the Iggy duo, among other things. Possibly not work safe.

Some serious spluttering laughter from me. Genius.

  • kmont,

I was also thinking about Biork and PJ Harvey's cover of Satisfaction, kind of cock rocky enough to go well with the rugby and pretty relevant to the ABs.

  • Joanna,

I will talk about the brilliance of old Liz Phair until the cows come home, but I have definitely now spurted out all that I know about rugby. Except for one final observation, and that is how olives are shaped like rugby balls. Sort of. So I think more martinis are called for.

whoopsy, typo. 173cm. Probably also wishful thinking.

  • Danielle,

    __Exile in Girlrugbyville__

This whole idea is brilliant. I'm thinking up appropriately modified lyrics... 'It took an 80 minutes out of one day/once we scored a try the other team just went away'. Or for particularly heightened moments: 'we'll play you like a pitbull in a basement'.

You people who measure height in centimetres make me feel as old as the hills. I'm five foot three and a half, and I'm sticking with it.

    A veritable giant!

My mother is four foot eleven and a half. Somehow 148cm just doesn't sound nearly as impressive.

Big lolz! I declare Exile in Guyville to be the official soundtrack of the PA System Women's XV.

We get away almost every day with what the boys call rugby.
