Surely all recreational drug use is detrimental to the health and well being of the individual

That kind of logic would make any puritan proud, and wrong. We all need to relax (recreate as you say) one way or another. Do you want to be the one telling people how to do that? Watching sport isnt my idea of recreating/relaxing.

    organise a public meeting

Ah but the painted ponies who front the cesspool/crocodile pit that is the remains of public broadcasting may not be able to schedule it into their lifes. Poor luvs!
We're in freefall now, and some one packed up the safety nets.
How high can we bounce off a hard surface?
(Is the only question that remains to be answered.)

I think it’s important not to let it be glamorous in the eyes of young people.

Completely ban any advertising industry input funnel all information thru scientific channels and informed parents. TELL 'EM...Your messing with your minds, kids, try and show a bit of respect for yourselves, do that and you might be able to enjoy the mind altering aspects of the drug. And dont endanger others please.

    the Trump hypnosis

Its going to take a while for that to peter out in society if ever. We're always going to have stupid with us

  • Access: Jim's Truth,

Im amazed at how relaxed he is in front of the camera. Well done.

the shitty, narrow, resentful “advice” being churned out to young men

Thats not the worse of it. I looked at some of his lectures on line when he was being feted as an intellectual of note. So this was a captive audience of young impressionable minds being taught this stuff as supposed scientific based knowledge from a tenured professor.
They might be confronted with questions on it, it was just anger inducing bullshit he spouted. I wondered were the university authorities aware of the nonsense he spewed or were they as stupid or as intellectually arrogant as him.

Its certainly quantity over quality, offensiveness generating outrage is a seller too.The downward spiral goes on

    if they try prescribing heroin

Its usually in the form of morphine and the best way to alleviate suffering at end of life situations. Say no to that if you want, I wont be.

Heroin addiction is unlikely to cause brain damage. But heroin addiction could leave you socially isolated

Addiction is a form of brain damage, but yeah heroin users can be very adept at hiding it, until they run out of money and resort to all manner of cajoling to get money for the next fix. That can bring on social isolation, then its stealing to get the money. The downward spiral can go pretty deep.
