  • Up Front: Or It's Who We're Drinking With...,

I remember hearing that it was the trial of Oscar Wilde that put an end to public touching in British society; that before that it was common for male friends to walk arm-in-arm and so on. Depressing if true.

  • Up Front: It's Not Sex, and It's Not Education,

I've never used a pseudonym, mostly because I'm too lazy to think of a decent one. Whenever possible, I would just register myself as "Josh". This did once lead to the the following echange on meeting someone at a party:

"So, are you "Josh" Josh or just Josh?"

    "... yes?"

At work, so I won't go browsing that site, but do they bring up old Judith Reisman and her erotoxins? I always liked that one - an attempt to medically prove that things that feel good are inherently bad for you.

  • Hard News: Is that it?,

But if men left it because they didn't like working with women, that won't bring them back. If they left just for the money, it might.

There are other factors that can make teaching unattractive to men - for example (the comments, more so than the actual post).

    Because of Reasons
This is my favourite phrase on earth right now.

It is a good phrase, although when I hear it I can only think of this.

  • Muse: Emotion Pictures,

At one point in Hobo With A Shotgun, Rutger Hauer's character begs on a sidewalk with the sign I AM TIRED NEED $ FOR LAWNMOWER - particularly compelling, since both of those statements apply to me at the moment.

Is it possible to read the phrase "penal intensity" without sniggering? I know I can't.

  • Up Front: First, Come to Your Conclusion, in reply to Megan Wegan,

But see, say, I've never read Joss's Buffy comics, or anything like that.

Probably a good move. The canonical "Season 8" comics were pretty dire - they came very close to killing my love for the original series. (Helped along by the letters pages, wherein I was introduced to the words "Spuffy" and "Bangel". I don't approve.)

  • Up Front: First, Come to Your Conclusion,

I once incurred the ire of a Snapes/Hagrid slash fiction community on Livejournal. Just saying.
