  • Hard News: Mo' Indexing,

If I may be so bold as to ask what the general consensus is on the legalisation/regulation of drugs?

    Are we for complete legalisation?

  • Hard News: Wild is the Weekend,

he is going to have to be real careful for the rest of the series

Nah he's all good, the suspension sets him back to nil, so he's only 1 yellow card in.

  • Hard News: Wild is the Weekend,

One of the things floating around my office is "If he loses this weekend, Henry must fall on his sword".

Which seems a little harsh, we did, after all, have four years of bliss. Though, like players, coaches do eventually go past their use-by date.

If we were to cull him who would replace him? All the best NZ coaches are coaching other countries.

Somehow I don't see Colin Cooper being an All Black coach in the near future.

I will say though, we appear to be successfully cure of the post-world cup Rugby malaise, people are passionate!!!

  • Hard News: Wild is the Weekend,

It was almost comical how bad Lauaki was.

I think we're in the sh*t in a big way though with our loose forwards.

Rodney and Richie are stand-out but Jerry's departure is a bigger deal than I had imagined. Who's the 3rd member?!

Halfback is also a worry, Piri has to come in this weekend, neither of our two current options are up to it, who's the backup though? Hurry up and fix yourself Brendan Leonard!

And what is up with Brad Thorn? Brad...mate...you are a great player, you don't need to act like a complete thug.

I know Brad is a good player because on a particularly fierce Wellington day he was walking down Lambton Quay wearing shorts.

I still think Ma'a is alright, he just needs Conrad outside him to steady the ship and it was bloody good to see Sivivatu actually pull finger and do some work.

  • Hard News: Foreign Affairs,

Interesting that the Rasmussen Report had a poll out saying 63% of those surveyed didn't think that this trip would help Obama learn more.

It's concerning that the media completely adore him and yet McCain is still within spitting distance of him.

it is still hard to credit that Americans could elect a candidate as manifestly inadequate as McCain

Incidentally, I don't think McCain is as big a dunce as you think.

    He is old.

    Reallllllly old.

But hey, anything's better than Bush ain't it?

  • Hard News: Just Some Things,

Gene Krupa is my favourite drummer, particularly 'Sing, sing, sing' with Benny Goodman

    Oh I totally agree.

When that beat starts up before the brass at the beginning....awesome

  • Hard News: Just Some Things,

    Happy Birthday us!

I hope yours is better than mine. My Zune died last night (6 months old!) and I've already had the limp rendition of Happy Birthday sung to be at my obligatory office morning tea.

  • Speaker: Won't Someone Please Not Think…,

Explicit and prolonged rape scenes or depictions of sadistic torture are OK in films that are subtitled and screen at the Film Festival, not so much at the multiplex...

    I agree with Craig.

It amused me no end that Bully was only allowed to be screened at Festivals and to Universities but then the Society for the Protection of Community Standards complained, the film had an injunction slapped on it then at appeal got general release. The only country in the world to give it such.

    Ha.

Glad to see that the prudish system of repression that is so alive and well in the States hasn't crept into the mainstream here.

  • Island Life: Abusage,

while were at it can we do something about "quantum jump" - that would be the SMALLEST change ... the ex-physics student in me just cringes

So you mean Dr Samuel Beckett wasn't travelling through time?

  • Hard News: Relieving Ambiguity,

Maybe National should change its slogan to "vote for change! Elect the status quo!" ?

In light of the gnashing of teeth and anti-National discourse that flies around here, I find this opinion du jour very amusing.

Not such an issue if they get in is it?

Christ when did I start chanelling Craig?
