actually an old 1950's song.
Originally sung by The Four Lads, along with all the other ghastly music my parents used to subject me to on National Radio in the old days (Red Sails in the Sunset; Shrimpboats are Acomin'--Patti Page and other horrors).

Not comedy, Craig, but now you've got me thinking of True Blood.
I second that. The love story of Sookie and Bill the Vampire are universes and generations distant from Twilight (which my 15 year old daughter despises). It is all blood, sex, mayhem, sex and, somewhere in there, truly fascinating ideas.

I think the Conchords would be improved if they ditched Murray and the whole NZ consulate thing, which detracts from the subtlety of Brett and Jermaine (and the whole 63 goldfish thing). They draw on the two essentials of classic narrative: The Odd Couple + Fish Out of Water. Murray is just an irritating twit.
Simon: you don 't get Seinfeld? Oh, dear!

On the Topp Twins movie
It has just cracked the $1 million mark at the NZ box office. which is great for a doco. I have never seen the point of the Topp Twins myself (and yodelling, in my opinion, is a good argument for genocide), but they are much loved by many.

Good to hear Philip Alpers back in the debate about gun control (he is on Nine To Noon this morning). I had wondered what had happened to him.
I do think attitudes to gun ownership and use have changed. One of the most useless 'skills' I acquired at secondary school in South Taranaki, was how to strip down and reassemble a Bren gun. I can probably could still do this, if I wanted to. I recall, in horror, memories of spotty 15 year olds firing live rounds with a Bren gun, in the name of 'education'!

Sounded like a ghastly cacophony of cowbells to me. Not that I'm bitter or anything.
Well, I guess you had to be there. It was genial and good natured in the Perry Stand and the final score was a bonus. It might have been even more if Brendon Leonard had been playing.

Curses! My oven doesn't heat up to Fahrenheit, it does Celsius only...
Most cookbooks have a conversion scale and there is doubtless conversions sites on the www (like the currency ones). I think you need to be a little cautious about cup sizes re the US and the ROTW.I suspect that US cup sizes are bigger.
Good cooking!

Well, I have to share this with someone, on a rainy Sunday morning--another great game from the Chiefs last night and they are back on top of the table. It was great to see current/potential AB vs AB. A great crowd too, with the Waikato Stadium booked out by Wednesday.
Just had an 6 minute on-air chat with Gary from Radio ZB Newstalk about blogs (following up on the letter I had in the Listener). I gave big ups for PA and Editing the Herald. I wonder who would be listening, on a Sunday morning.

I don't think O'Rourke has been good for decades
I agree. But who was that demented-looking stand-up comic on the Crunchie Comedy show on Wednesday night TV--the fellow who spun the wild and disturbing story about placing a kitten in a hollowed-out loaf of bread because it would "surely scare the mouse"!
