  • Radiation: CSI: Ferndale,

"the fabulous Weeds"? Hmmm - all I saw was a few munchies jokes in a suburban skin. Maybe I didn't pay enough attention.

  • Hard News: Singapore, I have a problem,

Ouch, you really do want to hope you qualify for a free replacement. My last Mac (a G4 iBook) had the logic board go, and was going to be $1800 to repair a machine I got for $1500. That really stung, enough that I haven't gone back for another Mac yet. Maybe when Leopard arrives!

  • Random Play: Traveller Tales,

Oh the museum website is http://www.iamm.org.my/ and looks like it's open 7 days now, my guide must be out of date.

  • Random Play: Traveller Tales,

The Islamic Arts Museum in KL is fantastic and beautiful. Go first thing (opens 10am Tues-Sun) to avoid the noisy school groups. If you're into architecture check out the floor containing models of detailed mosques from all over the world. The Museum is near the bird park and the national mosque.

  • Island Life: Take that, evil scammers!,

Anyone checked the T&C link on destinyrevealed.co.nz? (You get the link once you get through to the phone number screen).

"Currently, the Service is only available to residents of the USA. You understand and acknowledge that you may not sign up for, access, or attempt to access or use the Service from countries outside of USA."

Would that be a useful out if you got snapped by this scam?

  • Island Life: Child's play,

Whether it's a real problem or just a bit of pre-match trash talking, it surely doesn't deserve the lead story on the front page of the Herald. WTF?

  • Hard News: Brown bigots etc.,

I think it's a bit bloody rich of the Herald, of all papers, to be pointing out the spelling mistakes of others. There's usually at least a couple of total shockers to be found daily within it's pages.

  • OnPoint: Spoonfuls of sugar,

I'm not sure who it's "accepted" by, must be people who've never been anywhere else. The tax system here is mostly a doddle, with the odd complication. For a hideous mess, try Australia! <shudder>

We recently came through KL airport 3 times. What a difference from Auckland (and Sydney). Almost no queues anywhere, and we managed to transfer to a domestic flight in another terminal within a few minutes of landing (via the free train that comes right into the terminal building). Food, shops and entertainment remain open seemingly all night (we were there pretty late, our plane was delayed on it's journey from Dubai).

When it's time to leave Malaysia you can check-in in the middle of KL city, your bags disappear off to the airport and you can keep wandering around for a few hours. When you feel like leaving, jump on the air-conditioned train to the airport.

I'm inclined to pack all our airline and public transport officials off there for a while and not let them come home until they figure it out!

  • Hard News: The Big Roundup,

tweens who only knew Blister in the Sun but pretended they knew more.

Heh, I saw the Femmes at 2003 East Coast Blues & Roots show in Byron Bay (no I have no idea what they were doing there either). They were pretty good too.

Apparently Australian kids are fed the lyrics to all their songs in utero or something, because they knew every word to every bloody song. It's quite surreal to be standing in the front row, looking around at many, many teenage girls in bikinis, all bouncing up and down in unison and screaming "how can I get... just one fuck".
