  • Hard News: Friday Music: The First Time,

I'm having The Club flashbacks too.... seems a few of us did time in the Tron, other notable acts I saw there not already mentioned - Hunters & Collectors, Shriekback, Supergroove and a bunch of Auckland hip hop groups (names I can't remember), Straitjacket Fits... Some friends and I hosted a industrial dance club night there - The Bunker Club.

Pretty sure the Headless Chickens supported PWEI - which I guess was the catalyst for them supporting them in the UK some time (years?) later

Audioculture has a piece on the Hillcrest, which is pretty fab for memories too http://www.audioculture.co.nz/scenes/hillcrest-tavern

There was a club called roxoff - hamilton nightclubs were *shudders* special

  • Hard News: Friday Music: The First Time,

First international concert: 1984, The Cure Logan Campbell Centre

First real gig: 1982 I think, Divine Faction (I think they were called, not D Faction - played Echo & The Bunnymen and Psychedelic Furs etc covers ), Caroline Bay Hall, Timaru

If school counts: Certain Sounds, at least 4 times

  • Hard News: Housing: the Feudal Model,

Is there really a need to replicate with looser regulations that which the council does itself?

Just seems like a PPP scheme in the making with the usual benefits for a select few whilst residents/ratepayers or taxpayers get to ultimately carry the burden of debt

I wish some of the great ideas for our future living came via those countries moving away from road and sprawl to more people centric models (up not out) - I shuddered when I read Texas

  • Hard News: How a thing happens,

What Giovanni Tiso did re the advertisers and currently regarding them donating to Rape Prevention Education is both inspiring and empowering, bravo!

The media and advertising world will learn a lot from this exercise... or they could do a Rudman

  • Hard News: How do you sleep?,

I have periods when I suffer from insomnia - used to really do my head in trying to force myself to sleep, until I stopped fighting it and gave in... so when awake I'd do awake things and when sleepy and possible (ie not working etc) I'd grab the zzz's I could. Not my ideal sleeping pattern, then again I'm unsure what that is or would be

  • Hard News: Narcissists and bullies,

Now I await more coverups and lies... a mostly ineffectual inquiry, probably a few job losses coupled with garden leave, some claims of change to avoid the systemic failures and address the obviously toxic culture displayed by some of our police.... and with time a return to normal, until we face this sort of ineptitude and gross violation of the basic tenet of policing from those whom seek to serve again

its all so very very depressing

  • Speaker: Gender quotas (and helping…,

I like a lot of voters, I as guessing, don't see any problem with what labour is doing, quite the opposite in fact, equality benefits us all

thanks for the clear and concise outline though, fraid its not going to convince those in the media and other domains that just seem to have a problem with woman (amongst others not like themselves) full stop

  • Hard News: Narcissists and bullies,

what is it about our culture that allows misogyny to proliferate and exist,
    and such levels of violence,
and disdain for others and ones self

    needs more community!

  • Hard News: Narcissists and bullies,

and out comes the knee jerk reactionaries vigilante group(s): http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=11151474

As anger inducing as all of this is... its also the sense of hopelessness: cue police inaction (or building a case), cue policemans son (what, where, how), cue too many factors that we've seen time and time again....

I can't help but feel that over my lifetime nothings got better but a lot has regressed - thoughts to all those victims who are currently having to battle their demons once again
