  • Hard News: Where your money goes,

. . . if you were sign up by a chap in the street you'd be two years' membership paying that guy's wages.

Steven Crawford posted some interesting info re. Greenpeace the other day, particularly the claim that street pimps are paid $16 per hour. When I was a member of Greenpeace Australia $5 per week was deducted from my bank account. At that rate, it takes two years just to pay a day's wages to the person who signed you up.

  • Hard News: Rockin' the Casbah?,

    . . . Murray Cammick was threatened by a major record company . . .

Unless it happened more than once, that'd be the time when Murray had just got the news that one of his photos of Dylan at Western Springs had been used by some prestigious UK (I think) publication. When the music moguls protested the Rip It Up reviewer's use of the expression "Eketahuna riffs" (or was it licks?) in connection with "international product", Murray felt sufficiently emboldened by his newfound status as an international photographer to stand his ground.

This, I believe, was the supposedly unfairly maligned product. Perhaps someone remembers the plucky reviewer.

. . . and their wombat is to die for.

    Ah, that'd be mortal wombat.

  • Speaker: Remembering the Chartists,

And who would have thunk you'd do such a good impersonation of the more prickish end of the Kiwibog geek chorus? Anyone actually got some substantive rebuttal or analysis, or should we move along because there's nothing to see?

Craig, I know patronising disingenuous spin when I see it. Now toddle off and get your regular bukkake from the likes of Redbaiter, you'll get no joy here.

  • Speaker: Remembering the Chartists,

    It just seems odd.

We're living in odd times. For example, a nothing to see here move along little lumpenproletarians post at PA. Who'da thunk it?

  • Hard News: Food and drink,

    Call any vegetable by name...

Ooh, and the chances are good
that the vegetable will respond to you

How about this? Is it real food? There's even purple potato paste, if you scroll down a bit.

  • Hard News: Deja Vu,

Phil Goff has also declined to out his tacpayer-subsidised tenant.

It'd be priceless if it was a Nat - or better still, an Actoid. Heatley & Collins might be keeping schtum about their arrangements for fear of revealing similar cross-party rental arrangements.

Craig's right to staunchly push the goose sauce principle on this. Petty party pointscoring is what the worst offenders are counting on to make the issue go away.

What's the bet Farrar does a comparative analysis of the Minister's with kids in National and tells us these subsidies are just part of the price you pay to have real NZers running the show.

Doubt it. While DPF can come across as the chortling toadie to Whaleoil's adolescent arsehole, he's been pretty straight on politicians' personal lives.

  • Hard News: Food and drink,

Yep, its the same CO2 as fizzy drink fizz (not good for emphysema). CO2 welds are less attractive than argon but more reliable. It's good to look at these things when your about to get onto fair ground rides.

Good to know. I have three brothers, all of whom are accomplished welders. I, alas, have proved to be a complete klutz with both gas and arc.

    Dunno if you've seen this?

    Thank you.
BTW the Chris Knox with mike gaffered to head poster appears to be missing a credit. Like the lovely black & white Terrorways further down the page, it's definitely the work of Terry Hogan.
