I doubt that she is aware of the wider context, or that people are making fun of her. Does her apparent obliviousness make it okay?
I don't know quite how suss the woman is, but there's certainly a big element of condescension, which sucks. Anyway you mentioned bullying, and I can't see that.

I know a builder must remain sharp on the tools, truck drivers I know who get up at 1 am to drive up to 12 hours a day 7 days a week and must stay sharp and 48 weeks of the year. Surgeons, really need to stay sharp, perhaps not 48 weeks, lets say 40. Then nurses ,teachers, fishermen etc etc. So yeah, why on earth even a mention at Waitangi?
+1
Most cleaners work similar hours to radio hosts, with the added burdens of often despotic supervisors and surviving on a pittance. But then they don't have rampant narcissism as an occupational hazard. -

That's how it comes across to me. Bullying.
Even if it's consensual, and the supposed victim is (mostly) aware of the wider context? Like Holmes's last weeks it all seemed a bit Jade Goody.

And I have GIMP installed. It seemed highly functional.
I have the Mac native GIMP, would use it more if I wasn't for my 20 year habituation to Photoshop. GIMP supports my trusty old Wacom, which I'd never be without. Image manipulation without pressure sensitivity is like painting with a brick.

What's the hive-mind's favourite freeware for Windows, for digital image manipulation?
I'm mostly Mac at the moment, so my experience is a bit out of date, but I've found Irfanview to be pretty useful freeware. With a bit of tweaking it can run most of the useful Photoshop plugins.
The most fully-featured freeware would have to be GIMP. It's completely free and very Photoshop-like, but I've had no experience of running it on Windows.

Yeah, duckweed. Really choking the channel.
I believe that it's mostly elodea, an exotic that's been here for a long time. It seems to have become a problem soon after its introduction.
Nice bagpiper btw.

It's hard to get numbers on Phillipino/a people but there are more than a few now involved in dairy farming-
Just heard that tonight's 4.6 shake spooked a dairy herd out Lincoln way into busting out clear through their paddock fence. Onya Bernie from the Philippines who missed out on his Saturday night R&R through having to round 'em up.

the yikebike is kind've cool
Perhaps the one example I've witnessed in action was somehow defective, but it was an amazingly noisy little beast. Sounded like it had gearbox issues.

PAS electric bike discussion from around 12 months ago - interesting contributions fron Stephanie & Ben Wilson.
1000 cycle lithium ion batteries currently priced at just under $600, with 3-5 years claimed useful life. Some bike models offer one third off your first battery replacement as part of warranty.
