  • Hard News: Everybody's Machiavelli,

    Thanks Alex - good stuff,
In the States the rightwing nutjobs seem to have succeeded in dragging everyone rightwards, at least a little.
In this country I think that the public opinion bellcurve is oriented further left than over there and we are also a small enough country that these mini-Machiavellis get found out sooner. Not playing with a straight bat in a country with one degree of separation is a sign of low intelligence.

Presumably this issue will be their version of Benghazi but I'm never going to know because I no longer give pageviews to WO or that troll-farmer DPF.

And I'm really happy with that

  • Hard News: Everybody's Machiavelli,

These Tory wannabes are so devoid of charm that anyone with a shred of charisma can obviously go far in their world - is this what is referred to as a gap in the market?

  • Hard News: Everybody's Machiavelli, in reply to Ana Simkiss,

    Precisely.
I don't want to know and the media is making me feel like some sort of peeping tom by running this constant prurient sanctimonious claptrap.(present company excepted)
Unless he took public money or screwed up his job somehow it's none of my damn business.

  • Hard News: On Telly, Telly Off,

Threw my telly out when all that reality tv malarky started and don't regret it.
Since Te Internet I've been loving House of Cards, OITNB, Orphan Black and lots of shows, ad-free.

It's not elitism, I absolutely abhor advertising. Being yelled at and condescended to and have my favourite movie cut to 3min segments?

    Yeah, na.

I happily pay a subscription to a couple of net services (podcast and news site) and I can see the world moving that way - I hear that 30% of US traffic is Netflix?

  • Hard News: Friday Music: History, motherfuckers,

To think I compared poor Simon to Anders Brevik and that review called him Michael Laws?

    That's just low.

  • Hard News: Game Lorde,

Russell, the rest of us stopped listening to that spankcarrot at least 3 years ago.

Jumped the shark, not worth dignifying with a response, right down there with Anders Brevik, you get the idea

Do not EVER borrow a Farmers catalogue from this man

  • Hard News: Friday Music: Partners in Vacancy,

Is it too late to point out that that little white girl can't even twerk right?

Thicke is like the Forrest Gump of RnB - so dumb ya just don't wanna see him bump into too much furniture

Back to music, the Guardian has a sample of some new Pixies tracks and Japandroids are coming so hellz yeah to that

  • Hard News: Friday Music: I'm Over The Edge,

Yeah saw them at a gig in Newtown Hall - 8 bands for 8 bucks
Cops surrounded the place halfway through the night
One skinhead lurched past me with a bruise on his face that had swelled up just like on the cartoon shows

Man the 80's were shit for violence - not many places to go and lots of aggro compared to today - kids these days can drink til all hours and the worst thing is the hangover and an empty wallet. Back then you'd get smacked over for looking a bit different - these days I go out and there's people in goddam furry suits.
    Bless.

Fuck the good old days - the only thing I miss from back then is that the bush was chocka with deer
