I'd support a call to get cars & trucks off the inner city roads fullstop - they're the problem
would make for a much healthier and happier population I reckon - possibly reduce that crazy number of people dying thanks to the air quality in Auckland and in other car related accidents

enjoyed Media 7 cheers - something that struck me however in relation to France is how Switzerland is treating infringement which would have made for an interesting sideline
not everyone is backing the corporations right to dictate how we pay for the content they deem worthy of putting up for sale (ie a tiny proportion of their avail catalogues - music, film, tv and books)

there are death spots all over our countries roads, highlighted by clusters of crosses
is poor maintenance, planning, implementation of plans generally grounds for a defence in a case like this?
My non legal mind doesn’t understand why the charges were dropped (not angling to see the driver punished) as we’re told to drive to the conditions not the planning that hasn’t been enacted
I’m not suggesting this isn’t a tragedy and feel for all those effected and strongly support anything that allows for safe riding and walking in our towns and cities

he was most certainly at Laneway (he's a friend of mine) but was dressed as a normal man - most unbecoming of him :)
One of my amusing moments at this years BDO was when he was being hassled by security in one of the grassy bars due to his having one of those backpack liquid dispensing thingies that trampers and office ladies so love...
he was escorted out of the area by security (I thought to be chucked out) only to return about 20 minutes later explaining how he'd had to quaff his liquid refreshments rather than them throwing it out - yes it was a vodka drink
he wandered off to bemuse other members of the crowd and the security lady wanders over and tells us just how nice his mix had been - from a moment of hating the security for, um, doing their job to one of connecting with a human who wasn't about to ruin someones day nor be an aggressive stereotypical security type
sorta sums up the vibe for me, odd but chilled

not against the commercialisation of music (artists gotta eat etc)... not a fan of the commodification
I'm not so much outraged as bored and it all distracts from the one song of hers I shall give the time of day - potential sale lost... not in this case (cue worldwide collective sigh of relief)

oh I'm all for artists and companies earning money from music sales.... and I am not opposed to those whose primary motivation is the cash
song sung by woman with well to do father is not a turn off... if that song appeals to the ear

My anger isn't aimed at Lana (or whatever name she goes by) but the marketing machine... and the back story... and now we're bombarded with a record marketing by the numbers old skoool sell in for the album - sorry I stopped living in the 90s in the 90s if you get my drift
I'm not stupid so don't treat me as such Record Company guys high fiveing each other over such a clever well executed plan

I love and loathe video games, it is a great pop song... ruined, for me, by the marketing ride.
Leaves me wanting to smash one of those huge street posters of her in the face
Her other songs haven't grabbed me and I don't want them to. Refer to poster comment.
I doubt she will have much time in the marketplace (sucess in that time is all but a given) but the impact of her style on video games at least just may - expect to see the 'marketing and development model' repeated a lot, as we do and always have done
For me its the Woon remix (this summers James Blake in my world) that really shows what is so exciting about "pop" and this particular right now and the strength I believe in the original song
give some of these crazy talented young producers the parts (or not as is generally the case) and they can make wonderful things
and breathe life into a song that many would run a mile from normally - ie give it real "indy" cred (spits on the ground)
I do wish someone would repect her potential market enough to be honest about where she came from and the like - respect the medium and the market
