  • Hard News: Some Lines for Labour,

Its bloody sad to see Labour so dilute, so lacking in fire, so ...lacking.
Goff is so clearly the wrong man for the job - nice guy though he is. Is it not too late to roll him and put someone in who can at least show leadership.

I reckon in tough economic times many people will vote for strong confident leaders as much as for policy. Which offers the possibility of fast change. Key for all his inadequacies still projects a okey doky kind of smiling confidence and Bill English projects a very assured confidence.

Who have Labour got who can do it?
Is there someone less obvious in the wings who could take over, hell a pill brain like Don Brash can swoop in to take over ACT why not a Left equivalent?

    Suggestions ?
Micheal Cullen ( whats he up to ?)

  • Hard News: You know what ...,

Can I call you other things as well?

umm well ok , naive, suspicious, un-trusting, won’t get fooled again and other things.
But don’t you think it odd that there has been no evidence at all put up – just the president’s word. Hang on let me think, when was the last time a US President lied to the world.
And please don’t lump me in with the conspiracy groups, I am just as skeptical of their claims.
Saddam Hussein’s death is all over the net, including grisly videos of the execution.
    Why not Bin Laden ?

  • Hard News: You know what ...,

Call me a skeptic but how do we know Bin Laden is dead - from what I have read - after the firefight in Pakistan they took his body to Afganistan then onto a aircraft carrier where after washing and some prayer they dumped the body into the Arabian Sea.
Officials say they have DNA and photographic proof but they are not releasing this information.
It's such an important event I cannot understand why they have not shown more proof, photo , video , independent DNA opinion etc.
The US military will say and do anything - maybe if they can generate a big enough wave of acceptance of Bin Laden's death it won't matter if he is still alive - if he tried a video broadcast to say " hey I'm still here" everyone would assume its a fake - case closed.
I am not alone in saying show me the body

  • Hard News: Limping Onwards,

Michael Laws is reliably vile – here’s a hint, as soon as he starts using the word “sensual” avert your eyes. Prick.

I am no fan of Laws but I thought he had a point re trial by media. Hughes has been found guilty and had to fall on his sword with almost no due process - it could be a false allegation we don't know yet.
Over here Sue Bradford is asking for" a little more reflection and empathy at times from those who are the first to criticise those delectable falls from grace among our elected representatives"
She has a point - how ready we are to stone those leaders who fall from grace.

  • Hard News: Limping Onwards,

A leadership change six months out from polling day would not look convincing to the electorate

Depends on the leadership change and I think that's the bigger problem for Labour, a lack of star leaders ready to step up.
Another strategy could be to form a solid pre election coalition, Labour, Green, Maori + Hone. Could that work ?

He’s like a Twinkie. Will still be edible in the post-zombie-apocalypse world, but not really very nice even when brand new.

Page 3 girls might work better. Isn’t the paper aimed at people who don’t have the internet?

Public floggings of page 3 girls ? Wow Ben you are one sick puppy

  • Hard News: The Wall and the Paper, in reply to James Butler,

After all, any publicity is good publicity, right? Right? Anyone?

I know you're being ironic James ( I hope so) - it does have a terrible surface logic to it - I noticed today the top read article on the SST site is of course Law's lynch mob rant.
Damn I was one of those readers!
Do you think the SST have gotten that desperate? Will they be lobbying for public flogging of looters next?
My optimistic side says maybe they just stuffed up and can't figure out how to retrieve themselves from slipping down into the deep dark pit of any-publicity-is-good.
