  • Hard News: Friday Music: Heavy Metal's…, in reply to Rich Lock,

Keep ya jockstrap to yaself pal

Sabbath went through many phases and even the Ian Gillan album had some good bits - I just treat em like a bunch of different bands that happen to share a core. YMMV.
Having seen Dio play in AK with Iommi et al it was the only gig I've ever been to where it sounded exactly the same no matter where you were standing which is hard to do. Dio (RIP) may've looked like an unemployed court jester onstage but he had a great voice and "Sign of the Southern Cross" is still a legend track.

The corporate reason why Bill wasn't on drums
    http://www.thrashhits.com/2012/02/lets-read-between-the-lines-of-the-black-sabbathbill-ward-split-shall-we/
should remind you that Sabbath these days is a hard-nosed profit pulling stadium seller out to make moolah
TL:DR- they ran the numbers and offered Bill shit money, he refused.

Saturday's gig was great and I love coming up to AK - esp the art gallery which was damn fine.
Even if Ozzy looked more like he was in need of a zimmer frame than a bat's head I thought the band and venue was really good

Now try listening to "Sleeping Village" off the first album and calm yo tits

  • Hard News: Friday Music: Heavy Metal's…,

This Sabbath line-up was more dirge-ey than the previously toured version fronted by Dio.
    Different eras

Try listening to "Supernaut" REALLY FUCKING LOUD if you ever wonder just what the fuss about the original Sabbath was all about - I swear you can dance to it though some drinking may be required..

  • Hard News: Friday Music: Summer Live,

In for Sabbath and Neil Young - more as a bucket list thing than any other reason
Saw a different Sabbath when they toured with Dio - a real loss that he's gone.
Cognitive dissonance isn't a problem, the Ozzy years and the Dio years play like different bands pretty much.
Missed out on Grimes but got Dirty Projectors next year

Blaze Bailey and Paul diAnno doing Iron Maiden tracks this Friday - best get pissed for that one

  • Up Front: Or It's Who We're Drinking With...,

Presumably more Bis are drinking due to social isolation seeing as they're a smaller proportion of the population - are we going to see Auckland (for example) as the getaway city for Bis to go to like Sydney traditionally has been for teh gays?
Being Bi in Cromwell, Blenheim or Foxton has gotta be, everything else aside, limited due to less possible partners.

I used to take the piss out of Bis ("Oh make ya damn mind up!") but now I've reverted to my default setting which is taking the piss out of anyone who wears crocs or has stick figure families on the back window of their cars.

  • Hard News: The Watching World,

Early uncorroborated signs from Florida are that the GOP/Tea Party attempts to disenfranchise the queuing voters are leading to a surge amongst black and latinos supporting Obama

Democrats extend Florida early voting lead wapo.st/YL0VCQ

The story that the Republicans may be telling themselves after they lose is that Sandy interrupted Romney's late surge. Grasping at straws in the wind?
Hopefully this will be the end of the tea party eedjits

  • Up Front: Moa: Sub-Standard,

As someone smack in their target demographic I will never drink a Moa beer again though I will confess that the decision is made easier by the fact that their product is frothy bland suds.
Having viewed the entire prospectus they look like a bunch of Viagra swilling eedjits looking for a sense of direction.
    A disgrace to my sex.

  • Capture: The Night Time Is The Right Time,

    Damn fine pics.

As to the energy recoverable from the sound waves being reflected up, you'd do better to harness the much greater energy being expended by the pressure of the vehicles going over the surface and some engineers in the UK are doing that with pedestrian power already.
