  Watercare is not privatised. It's owned by all the existing Auckland councils.

  I always think it nice when one looks up to their elders.

  I was detained as a young fella when caught out applying the five-finger discount however...

  My version of detained at 16 was, underage, sitting on the bottom steps of the Vic Hotel (maybe the reverb room???) with some friends.So, enjoying a drink which had been a birthday gift from upstairs, cops (6) dragged me into a van, and up to central to charge me with theft of the glass. Had offered to return it upstairs if they had a problem with me drinking on the stairs. Get to court, Judge thought it pathetic, told the cop off, wished me a happy Birthday and dismissed the charge. Not once did anyone ask how old I was,not once did I say.Ahhh, Lessons of life. :)

  I'l an admonished and discharge would do the trick. I was once admonished and discharged by the courts, whilst in my early teens. Now I am a model citizen

  Having worked with Ms Dean on many occasions can I also add that she has a frighteningly ferocious appetite for hard work and a knack for asking the hard questions, both of which also make her ideally suited.

  Well, thank -you very much. Nice to know someone has knowledge of her, because I don't see any information telling Auckland about this Agency. At a glance the ex to be Watercare guy was the one that privatised it, and now he's the one with Auckland's $28 mill of assets, answerable to ...Rodney Hide (by name and nature). I don't care if it's lawyers, caregivers, accountants or what have you, but I do care if we are not able to question and protect our city from a massive alteration that will ultimately cost us. It is not democratic. We just had an accounting error on a large scale at the Westpac bank this last week and now we have criminals created because the bank made a mistake. We are supposed to trust this Agency cos Rodney and John say so. Bloody Transparency is what we need. It's not too much for 1/3 f the country to have.How dare they dismiss us like yesterdays fish and chip wrapper.

  I really cannot understand why anyone would think otherwise.

  Possibly because he really is ignorant and knows no better, then the attention that followed (which he seemed to enjoy) gave him confidence to argue.I notice that the likes of those arguing for the right to hit their children seem very pleased to fight for the right, when I wonder why they wouldn't be more interested in educating others of alternatives, which to me would actually help us as a society , rather than perpetuating the idea of any aggression towards others. But that's just me.
