  • Hard News: Presentation and Reality, in reply to Steve Barnes,

ACT, apparently, is an acronym for Association
    of Consumers and Tax payers

A O CAT P has a much better ring to it!

  • Hard News: On Science,

    Data book...

    Physical scientists in NZ...

Could be a fund raising calendar in this...

Marketing would be a field day:
    "Buff Boffins"
    "Merry Quantum Physiques"
    "Test Tube Babes"
    "Buyer Chemistry"
"DeSIRe - A Lab of Love"
    "Recherché Researchers"
    "In their element..."
    Not so much a Calendar
    as a Periodic Table...

    the chickens less counted...

    A4isms...

    on stooping to google...
I find others have well and truly beat me to this
    bloody morphic hive mind
    (or obvious word plays)
Damn, and I thought I was being clever
    c'est la vie

there have been A4 exhibitions in the past in NZ
based I think on those early cigar box exhibitions
    - there used to be a gallery in Chchch that had an
annual exhibition where all art work was restricted
to the common size of a cigar box lid
and this guy - Ed Musante too

and then there's the Cornellesque assemblages using
cigar boxes as a common starting point... like Spencer Bohren

I like the Alexander Bartleet creations
    - plasticscene strata sorta

I'm enjoying your blog Mr Cauchi
    and love your line art
(we share a fascination with Mayan Codex it seems)
have you thought of doing an artist's Music Muse compilation
    - like this one

and you mention artists books have you made any of these
and I wonder if you'd like to make cards of some of your works
(pin money perhaps - but spreads the ideas)
I ask because I am set up to print and produce
cards and small booklets (shameless self-promotion)
    (I Print David Haywood's excellent
Albert the Otter book - The Hidden Talent of Albert Otter )
if you are interested in exploring that idea - email me
(I've reactivated my email link above
    - time to reconnect with the world....)

    Pryer engagement….

Because I have trouble not doing extensive unasked
research on topics for no reward

There must be a suitable name for that wonderful condition…

    More Kissing Key photos...
Cup day photos from The Press, The man is a self promotion machine ..
    - I notice in the comments someone was (rightly) outraged that John Key kept talking during the minute's silence for the Earthquake victims!
    - he's a classy guy all right...

  • Cracker: Spotted, in reply to merc,

    taking the pith…

Like most pursuits there’s plenty of sayings.

    Standardised as A4isms…

    Gripe water colours…

…this little tube of a special colour
and then griped about the price

    Burnt umbrage?

    Petering out…

…but then he also painted nude on stage.
    Potters are way more fun.

    Bare tricks?

    mmmmm MP....

    It’s not lazy, it’s realistic….
they only have to stand for a month or two,
and then sit for the next three years.

    from poll position

    DSIRerrata...

The Department of Scientific and Industrial Research may have been an apt name. Funny we have to reinvent the wheel so often.

Yeah, when I heard National's R&D policy I thought 'great they are almost getting back to where they were before the DSIR was disestablished' - duh!

Loving that Power-ring thingy - very Green Lantern
In darkest night, no funding shall escape my sight...
