  • Island Life: The Art of the Deal,

I saw Goff on Lambton Quay (outside Farmers) about an hour ago. He was sporting a splendid royal blue silk tie.

It's the suit that could do with a colour change. Dear Mr Goff, How are you today? Could I suggest (having a grey haired man myself) that charcoal or black or royal blue suit would be fine colours to compliment your image at the oppositon benches. Snappy rather than grey will do wonders.

  • Hard News: Congratulations, Mr Key,

As much of an idiot as he is, I'll give him respect for that.

Idiots should be treated equally I say :)
Exclusion still exists though Shep, there is just al ittle matter called Auckland that he now sees fit to rearrange according to his needs and desires all in the name of inflation/ Eden park upgrade.

  • Hard News: Congratulations, Mr Key,

Sorry Sofie, I was in agreement with you. I just added the first thought that popped into my head (stream of consciousness - my bad) about a mate & the CIA.

And I thought it was me being the cryptic one :) No apology needed Shep and don't stop that stream of consciousness, it's good for your soul.

  • Hard News: Congratulations, Mr Key,

I think a mate of mine has worked in support of the CIA (I don't ask and he doesn't tell). He would agree with my sentiment though, given his paternal line.

My small point being that what Bin Laden seems to get the blame for does not equate with the facts, and the CIA was his only confirmed employment nor would it seem the US thought his family was a problem either but if the family members want to immigrate that should be due process anywhere in the world, shouldn't it ?I can only assess that he and his wife 'by choosing NZ has very good taste. Also why not live in Saudi Arabia? One would hope that would not be a problem for them .

  • Island Life: The Art of the Deal,

Maybe Phil Goff is just calling it as it its.

I'll agree and after all, that is now the job of opposition. Why is it so important for Key to get to Apec? Surely the forming of a tactical coalition is of greater importance for all Parties concerned so why is it that Key must fly out immediately? Don't we have the "horrors" (although " not Armaggedon")that Labour left us in to sort out?

  • Island Life: The Art of the Deal,

To use a dreadful cliché, I think both ACT and the MP know that there's as much risk in being the tail that tries to wag the dog, as being perceived (fairly or not) as neutered lapdogs.

I don't think it is risk, they must know they're just a bunch of ticks. And could someone please help with me trying to see why this

She said kohanga reo, kura kaupapa and progress in health and social services all came from National.

    is so. Craig

No, but Goff's sure got a damn funny way of forming a constructive relationship with a party that (as I said) he might be courting himself, and sooner rather than later.

It's nice to know you think the National Party could implode :)

  • Island Life: The Art of the Deal,

It seems to me that Labour has no alternative government arrangement to offer Maori.

Well they are not the Party trying to form a coalition are they? You don't need an arrangement to be on the opposition benches.Doh!

  • Island Life: The Art of the Deal,

After the election, he kept his word, and Labour had an option: Greens or UF? Labour chose UF; hardly "forced".

Graeme didn't NZF make up the6 needed and if so, wouldn't it have been easier to have the Green vote when it worked for both sides rather than the constant opposition of UF and NZF thus cancelling out all support ? By guaranteeing UF and NZF you get your votes and occasionally 6 more with Greens. By going with Greens you get UF and NZF always voting against which is not the way to win arguments and influence people
