  • Capture: Two Tales of a City, in reply to Gudrun Gisela,

Glorious to see, I do love the feel good stuff around the place & I love the Bulls.
However I also see alot of valuble metal all alone with clear access in a lightly travelled street in a city full of scrapmetal trucks.
ANZ dome just disappeared like that.

  • Legal Beagle: Urewerrors,

    Nothing new whatsoever.

    I respectfully disagree.
It would be correct in some circles to claim Vietnam was a Police Action not a War, because no formal declaration of war was issued and we were invited to that smoke show.
So too the absurdity of considering this 'Police' action within existing parameters the Police use else where.
The show of force(s) was war-like and akin to our Peace-Keeping efforts in Timor Leste with all the compromises of human rights that entails.
Broad actions speak louder than words.

  • Legal Beagle: Urewerrors,

This was simply the madness of Howard Broad, & the ever growing ego of Tama Iti.

Howie had to use it (Terrorism Suppression Act) or lose it. That he's a fantasist (see Satanic Christchurch Creche) was an unfortunate coincident.

Looking back on the video that made it to light.
It was all about close protection for Tama Iti. This wasn't an offensive excercise but an ego driven defensive one.

As to the legal status of militia - there are a few around

  • Hard News: #JohnDotBanks and all,

All this would not have been an issue had Banks said Dotty gave me $50K and the Satan gave me $15K.
Do you think he could stay in the same room his Dad did in Mt Eden?

  • Hard News: Doug the Goth,

Nothing was more Goth than the Park Royal/Crowne Plaza after 22 Feb 2011.
We came back to be haunted by the ragged curtains blowing out of the windows facing down Victoria St and then the pigeons flying in.
I had visions of Meatloaf living off raw Pigeons.
I was wrong of course, it was the homeless and Demo workers drinking the bars dry prior to demolition.

  • Hard News: War, now and then,

    Thanks RoO & JW,
    Oh the psychology!
    I hadn't thought of that.
It was 24 April 197? and he was drunk, reading his and his brothers diaries, tears flowing as much as the beer.
That night he also told me of the breakout of Minqar Qaim & he went through the Hospitsal lines, bayonet fixed.

  • Hard News: War, now and then,

Anyone know when our WWII executed will become public knowledge?
I grew up with Granddads story of being in the firing squad for a member of his section for rape in Italy. No wooden bullets and no-one missed.

  • Capture: EQNZ Remembrance, in reply to Hebe,

    Dear Hebe, I was blunt.
Your view is valid and common among many. I'm feeling like I'm a bit player in a story by Gogol. Life goes on and all things exist, but its the environment that oppresses the spirit.
I know life goes on out there. Just I miss part of it.

  • Capture: EQNZ Remembrance, in reply to Hebe,

The Crown Plaza might be fun to watch, but try working there.
We get the thudding vibrations and jolts up the spine that make concerntration, a little hard.
I dread going to work, not for the job but the environment. I'm calling the Central Bulldozer District, Mordor these days.
    Will be leaving town soonish.
