BSG. I really recommend starting at the very beginning, honestly. I got it all from the local library. Two week loans per season box set means you have to cram a lot of viewing in, but it's actually better that way. No ads, good 40 min episode length, you don't lose track, the picture is way better than TV or torrents, and there's no downloading or burning or geekery involved.
The only downside is the local DVD release lagging original transmission. But it's cheap, choice and worth the wait.
