Well, weapons of mass distruction (be they Chemical, Biological, or Nuclear) could be transported by suitcase or smaller. I think if the governments restrictions on that class of weapon came before the court, it is possible more judges might side with some of the other, pre-Scalia, thinking about the scope of the second ammendment than his particular interpretation.
The as the fairly clear Miller case put it, about carrying a concealed shotgun across state lines "absence of any evidence tending to show that the possession or use of ... at this time has some reasonable relationship to the preservation or efficiency of a well-regulated militia, we cannot say that the Second Amendment guarantees the right to keep and bear such an instrument." -
Of course historically, the Supreme Court has tended to feel that the 2nd ammendment applies to militias, not individuals. It is the recent court that has taken a different direction.

If you are suggesting that any legislature in the USA can simply define certain types of weapons out of the constitutional protection of the second amendment, then I agree with Graeme. That is plain wrong.
I don't know that simply can be said about anything do with the U.S. government, but arms one step above semi-automatic assault weapons (fully automatic machine guns) on up in destructiveness through heavy armour to nuclear and biological weapons have steadily greater regulation. So for classes of weapons it is in-arguable that restriction is historically possible. Semi-automatic assault weapons are one step down from where regulation presently kicks in (though historically there are periods where they were) so this is why much of the debate focuses on them.

To be fair, the story is claimed that this was an retired, earlier Little Ted (old Little Ted) rather than the then current holder of the title (new Little Ted), though the supposed new Little Ted was never found.
Things got out of hand at the very final wrap party.
