This is hard news indeed. I worked for Paul for two years and I'm struggling to conceive of him in the past tense. It seems almost impossible that there won't be a response to this post from him. He was such an active, thoroughly articulate person, and never happy sitting still or being 'idle'. This energy was matched only by his wonderful generosity and sense of humour. It is obvious from all the responses here - and unsurprising - that he was not only much loved by many but a great inspiration to a lot of people. His contribution really was huge.
