Sorry Sofie that's not what I meant... I meant drugs that correlate with violent crime - alcohol is number 1.

    On the news topic :

Who's seen the Sunday Agenda website lately?

The Executive Director advertises on the main page of the government funded programme's website that he "likes Nationals broadcasting policy"

Are they allowed to use tax payer money to promote a particular political ideology? Surely not?

Tried to contact him about this but their email system rejects all incoming messages. (Not surprised).

Statistics clearly show that Alcohol is the number one drug problem in New Zealand, not methamphetamine.

How many people go through the court system every day for alcohol related crimes? A lot more than methamphetamine related crimes for one.

Not to say that methamphetamine isn't a problem - Perhaps if we're speaking illegal drugs only then meth would be number 1.

And as for the 90-day trials... it didn't take this policy for me to understand John needs the boot, I'm surprised he was voted in in the first place.

Those creating the laws are also generally from the same socio-economic background as television reporters.

So whether directly or indirectly, the laws are probably constructed purposefully around every aspect of opinion for that socio-economic group.

I don't think it's a mistake that reporters are allowed to read the lies, misinformation and one sided stories that they do so frequently.

For a show that generates as much income as TV3 news to not pay everyone working for them is rather disgusting... what ridiculous salary are their reporters on again?

  • Hard News: Wanna Route?,

Cyclists are just like motorists in my opinion; some are smart, polite and responsible. Others are stupid, irresponsible and cause accidents.

I think more cycle lanes are needed but, there will always be idiot's on the road whether they're in cars or on bikes makes not a lot of difference.

Also, someone mentioned the sensible sentencing trust above. Don't even get me started on them... they're the least sensible people I've ever come into contact with and I believe their agenda is in line with that of upper class business men.

I recently emailed them after seeing them commit defamation against a young 17 year old and his friends on their website... the particular link was removed after I pointed out that they were committing defamation. However, I'm sure they knew that to begin with and really it should never have been their in the first place.

Sorry for going off topic, I'll refrain in future.

Personally, my issue is with the Journalists / presenters.

Investigative journalist's in New Zealand seldom comes to conclusions via scientific means, they regularly state opinion as fact and, the amount of times I've seen a misleading headline or printed misinformation (which never gets rectified) is quite horrifying.

I think journo's and presenters need to be kept under strict watch because they are in a position of great power and influence.

Most reporters seem to lack the ability to investigate things adequately, I'm not sure why it's called investigative journalism.

Another problem for me is, TVNZ's website only allows comments on selected stories and not others. They should allow comments on all of their stories as the comments section is the only place an unknowing individual can scroll through to try and get an idea of how truthful the stories are.

Also, it's quite obvious that every single television reporter is from the same socio-economic background. And we all know that birds of a feather flock together.
