Of course, I meant I'm very good at wearing shapeless dresses in horrendous colours, but you get the idea...

    Thanks Danielle.
Well spoken. Sorry you had to "bring it", but sometimes it needs to be brought.

Also, can I be bridesmaid? I am v. good at wearing horrendous colours in shapeless dresses!

but is he a motiveless wife serial wife beater cos there are a fair few out there who deserve our attention too, or is he a guy that got into a heated argument and clocked past more levels than he could handle, maybe only a few degrees past what us perfect people sometimes reach in our daily lives.

Um, I'm going to go with option one.
Because option two is trying to excuse putting someone in a wheelchair for several months.

I don't think violence is a part of normal healthy relationships.
If you regularly have to suppress the urge to clock your loved one, you need professional help.
I'm speaking to the rhetorical "you" of course.

In lieu of a longer post I just wrote in response to your latest apology for domestic violence, Ian - bollocks.

    jackie jackie jackie
if only we all could live in the same black and white world where crimes were committed by distant people we don't know instead of fathers, brothers, sisters and neighbours,
that would make it so much easier to judge others without taking anything else into account.

Isn't that the very definition of apologist?

I look at it more like time out. He appears to need sobering from his aggrandizing delusions. He's obviously unaware that other people actually feel pain. A spell in the tank might prepare him for the real world of human relationships. He might come out of clink with a more fulfilling outlook on life.

Nicely put. I hope so too.

This raises the question, what happens to somebody thats been repeatedly abused, then left to deal with it alone ?

Steven , if you are not just speaking hypothetically, there are free services that can help. Rape Crisis is a good first place to start, but Lifeline are also great. You don't have to deal with this alone.

Yes, I believe the phenomenon we are witnessing is called, in the Latin, "What about teh menz???!!!".
That's such a useful site Deborah.

Yep Danielle, I smell it too.

Steven will be happy to learn that men can and do use Rape Crisis when they are victims of sexual abuse or assault.

Men are also free to set up Men's Refuges at any time. Just like women did.
