The interview was too cozy and vacuous . Everyone patting each other on the back & saying well done chaps. No grit!No mention of "Outlook for Thursday" or many of the other HIT songs hes done.
And why is Bliss missing off this album?
Also why does he want to get rid of The Lords Prayer in Parliament? A great prayer, with a great message , no matter your religious persuasion .
But for Dave a Maori Karakia is ok???Uhhh Dave "get on board" or is it because you've been hanging out with Zaoui & the Islamic salvation party too much?
Nice acoustic guitar at the end.

So the interview would have been somehow more hard-hitting and/or less vacuous and cozy if we'd mentioned Outlook for Thursday? Thanks for the tip.

...And if you actually listen to what he's saying, he's calling for the Lord's Prayer in Parliament to stay because it's a tradition - he says there wouldn't even be a debate about it being ditched if it were a karakia...

And I'm no expert, but 'Bliss' is probably missing off the Dave Dobbyn album because, um, Dave Dobbyn doesn't sing it...

So, um, all good points then.

In the actual transcript he says "If its a Maori prayer it would stay but because its a Christian prayer i would chuck it out", so that doesn't concur with what you say.Its not actually the Lords Prayer that is used as the Parliamentary prayer , but it still is a good prayer .And why have it in Maori? Is he suggesting we should all learn Maori?

Politics & religion aside , much as i like some of his songs i am very disappointed in the 2009 versions of "Whaling" ," Outlook for Thursday" & "Devil you know" ,as presented on this cd. The originals are much much better!!!!!!!!

After the horrible version of the classic " Be mine tonight" which he released on his other greatest hits "Overnight success" a few years back i would have thought his fan base would have told him not to go messing around with the originals . That is after all what folks want to listen too!Their is no comparison .

If "Bliss" isn't on the new cd ,it shouldn't have featured in your radio segment. A little bit of false advertising there, perhaps not deliberately though.

In the actual transcript he says "If its a Maori prayer it would stay but because its a Christian prayer i would chuck it out"

Yeah actually if you listen, um, properly, he says "if it's a Maori prayer it'd stay but because it's a Christian prayer 'oh well chuck that one out', you know."

He's paraphrasing the argument he sees from other people to ditch something because of its Christian roots - and of course he's pretty open about his Christianity these days - whereas if it was in Maori, he says, people wouldn't be so quick to call for its dumping because it would be un-PC or anti-cultural etc to do so.

But other than that, a great extrapolation by you into suggesting the well-known Christian Dave Dobbyn is embarking on an Islamic crusade after spending time with Zaoui. Awesome. You should really consider calling Leighton with that theory.
