  • Sacha,

Bug - post count showing as zero for this first post

  • Angus Robertson,

How come only hard news shows up on the front page Recent Posts?

  • matthewbuchanan,

Sacha, there’s a timeout on post counts being calculated to provide better performance.

Angus, this is due to a change from the old site where we only listed one post per blogger. We now show all posts chronologically (with featured posts moved to the slideshow at the top). Russell is dominating the homepage due to being prolific, rather than a bug. :)

  • Russell Brown,

How come only hard news shows up on the front page Recent Posts?

Because apart from the posts in the feature spot by Damian and Emma, I'm the only one who has posted. We're thinking about also putting the featured posts in the list by default.

  • recordari,

It may have been covered, so apologies if so. The PA.System and PA.Radio links at first seemed quite elusive. Now I know, I guess it's fine, but still, at least on my MacBook, you have to scroll to troll, so to speak...

  • Paul Williams,

Russell, apologies if this has been previously identified, but the PA Radio consistently crashes IE regardless of what show I select - this might be a fault with IE or my settings specifically but it may be something about the new site (which is really cool btw)

Mea culpa... mega-shame. Coming soon. Once again deferred a frivolous post because it didn't feel right in the light of the news from down south. But I have a juicy literary post coming up. And it's not about plagiarism.

Yes, please, please!! I was just about to say this myself. If you're a multi-tab many-window browser sort of person (and who isn't these days?), you don't necessarily stick around to see all the photos (gorgeous as they are) as they go through their full cycle.

Also, I think we're all quite well-conditioned to scanning down the full list of posts, with newest at the top, and not being able to see the full list of current posts in order is a bit frustrating.

Is there a more subtle way of saying 'salivating?' No? Right, carry on.

You may not in fact even be aware that there is more than one photo. Ahem.

  • Jolisa,

    Exhibit A: Dr G. Tiso

    I rest my case.

Is there a more subtle way of saying ‘salivating?’

I probably should have said "Juicy in a 'meet a writer you haven't heard of yet who is quite awesome' sense, rather than a 'traditional holiday season literary scandal' sense." But that would have taken longer to type.

Hi Paul, we’re aware of the IE problem, it’s proving tricky to remedy but we’ll have it fixed as soon as we can. Sorry!

  • Jolisa,

Oi Matt, I thought you were supposed to be on holiday? Go do some karaoke or eat some sushi or relax in an ofuro!

  • recordari,

    Hammer springs?
By the way, trying to edit posts on iPhone, I can’t control cursor as usual. Jumps to start or end of
text. My phone, or others having trouble too?

ETA Hence the hammer not Hamner.

I'm not sure Matt knows the meaning of the word "holiday". He's in Japan, and yet I've received email from him every day so far.

    not Hamner either
    - but Hanmer!

    Here's a handy Canterbury geography
    Press proofreaders rhyme -
    No Ham in Hanmer
    No Sun in Sumner...
    and no Cram in Cranmer!

Only the last one would have been untrue when the residences were full of uni students like my great-aunt swotting for exams..

Doh! Still blaming iPhone. Seems there's a whole domain name dedicated to my folly. http://www.hamner.co.nz/

  • Jo S,

That's what you get for going away for 2 weeks.
(and commenting on a post that no-one's been near for 4 days - but here's my 2c just in case someone is still looking)

Mostly finding it cute, but having to adjust to the giant text (I'm sure I'll get used to it, but definitely less subtle in your lunch break).
I do miss the minibanners (?) that used to cover the links to the different blogs when you were reading a post, but that's purely cosmetic.

The return of absolute-time! Thank You!

Getting errors here too - two error boxes popped up when using Preview. Comment went through fine once I hit post.

Using IE 7.0.5730.13CO in Windows XP, if that helps.

Where? Nothing has changed for me - still got relative time in threads and 24 hour clock plus 12 hour suffix on main page.

Sam, we're having trouble reproducing this. Could you perhaps email me a description of what you were attempting to post and what errors you saw?
