Right. That's my mission for the weekend then, scanning my Dad's pics of Engineering capping stunts in the quad circa 1967. They are gold. He's a very respectable professor of computer science now, but imagine the effects of six o'clock swill on a bunch of meccano-loving 18 year olds who owned every copy of Popular Mechanic. I'll find, scan & post.

That sounds awesome. Do you think he'll mind? Or should I say, do you care if he minds?

This ’car’ was on Waiheke Island, near Rocky Bay, circa 1989.

Love it, all those different greens. It's those supposedly 'limited palette' shots that are such a neat reminder of what a marvellous thing it is to be able to capture all of the visible colours.

He won't mind. I lent them to the Faculty of Engineering earlier in the year to scan for their archives - so he won't mind sharing. Looking forward to digging them out again and posting them for all to enjoy.

It is/was the famous Cutty Sark,( Clipper ship) in Greenwich, South East London, which then burnt down and was being fixed last I saw in late 2009. A dear friend has a view from his back yard. It is literally spitting distance.

Hoping we haven’t put anyone off random photo posts. Themes be damned, just keep ‘em coming.

OK, not Kodachrome, but another slide film that'll probably go the way of the dodo in the next few years, Fuji Velvia. A bit touristy, but still.

Nice ones Andrew. Here's one I called The Intractable Tractor.

ETA: Whoops. I just got caught out by that 'grabbing a picture and not checking the file size' trap. 10mb! Take my advice, I'm not using it.

  • Andrew E,

    Noice!

Yes, your point about file size is handy. With that, and potential lifting of large sizes of images for unlicensed re-use in mind, it might be an idea to add a couple of posting tips as metadata at the top of each post. Such as max file size, accepted format of image files, image width if you're happy just to have it display at the inline size, not larger on clickthrough.

Yes, we did have the laughs about something. Pretty sure it was our friend at the end of the seat trying to act like a dirty old man. Geez how much make up did I wear in those days. Loved it. When we got our dog, I noticed her eyeliner and it reminded me of those days. Here's Stella....

    O joy!

I get to laugh every day because of Stella. She has a very individual personality. I especially like the "reversing across the room into the kitchen area" and then she sits and looks at the fridge. One bark if I ignore her. She is a lovely bitch. :)
