    Dubai, at night,

Palm Jumeira. I should have mentioned further back that the photo of the Hotel was at the tip of the Palm island. This is on the way back emerging from the underground tunnel that lead us to the ginormous Hotel. Not a great photo but we was going pretty fast along the freeway. Overhead is a monorail line which was still being developed but what was up and running was a beautiful design. Everything feels efficient (for the wealthy)

As I remember it the restaurant was upstairs and there were still fire engines downstairs - or at least fire station stuff.

Your Photos Geoff, (fantastic) remind me of what for me it feels like in the States. Almost 1950's which I think is what I love about it. thanks for the journey, :)

this was today at Silo park, kinda the same but different.

    Moon in Dune...

What can you do with last nights moon?*
Had a very distinctive orange halo.

    Curious orange...
    Cumulo-Citrus clouds
    rind the lunarsphere
    with Noctilucent appeal

*lunar leftovers make for light snacks
    and with Autumn falling faster
    you'll need this Mooncake recipe....

    Stool life...

Ok then. Here’s a shot taken from a stool in the Neighbourhood bar.
    ... Who needs observatories eh?.

Tips for seeing noctilucent clouds, here. And more images.

A friend living in Northern Scotland for several years said he saw them a number of times. And did he take a single photo?? No!

I'd like to see nacreous clouds even more.

    Aurorae of light...

I’m hoping someone is seeing and photographing
    the southern lights tonight.

here are some shots from Owhiro Bay, Wellington
    and Oamaru via Space Weather
I hope to see them myself someday
roll on a southern sojourn for solar maximum...

    Womad 1999, Aotea Square.

We seem to be in lateral thinking mode. Ernest Raglin was here in 1999. He was exceptional, from fading memory. Don’t think Sly & Robbie were there though.

    Gone surfin’.

Do you think? Actually, I I took that on the night I went to see Call Cutta in the New Performance Festival. Was hoping to get some other shots around the event, but other things happened.
